You don't go by dad? Pfft. Abandon the economic structure in favor of a family structure in regards to pet ownership!!

The cat lady down the street is wringing her hands, Burnsian-style, thinking of all those deductions.

The nomenclature won't change the actual offensive phenomenon, that some franchise owners (or whatever) may indeed treat/speak to players as if they are akin to property (rather than an employee).

Exactly. Some managers/owners/whatever just operate in that way. Treating employees as a number instead of a person. IIRC one of the departing Twins players last year (Dozier I believe) said Falvey treats players more like assets than people. Doesn't mean it's racist or offensive.

I hate to end up being the one to go Captain Obvious on this, but could there possibly be a less convincing aggrieved party for a perceived slight by the use of a word with an absurdly tenuous connection to slavery than a man who has voluntarily... no, gleefully made tens of millions of dollars via his association with the offenders?

Millions of his fellow black Americans work for white-owned small businesses with a boss who likely could be referenced as the "owner" without a ruffled feather. But if there is ruffling, it might be better brought to the national conversation by people making minimum wage instead of a seven figure yearly income... or, for that matter, by Green but on their behalf instead of his own.

But in fairness to Green, he's a distant runner-up in this bad look competition to Adrian Peterson, who was on about NFL slavery while he was still doing things to his kids that would've never made even the unrated director's cut of Django Unchained.

I moved these recent posts to this thread topic as this is where we've had these kinds of discussions. The other thread was more to discuss gun violence and mass shootings. Whether this thread is the best place for this, it seemed more pertinent here.
