I thought it was strange that Jaylin Davis hadn't gotten a look yet in the Giants outfield, but it appears they are solid at the position for the moment. Their top 4 outfielders right now are Dickerson-Pillar-Yastrzemski-Slater with OPS+ figures of 181-97-120-139 on the season. (And PIllar at 97 has been on fire lately -- 1.082 OPS the past 28 days.)

I don't expect long-term greatness from any of those guys, though, so I'm sure Davis will get a look sooner or later.

Interestingly, Jaylin has been getting some run at and prefers to play center field. Being even below average but functional at center would make him even more valuable. He's only 25...

Ramos, Pascual, Kaat, Don Lee, Pleis, Dotter, Arrigo, Jim Snyder, Rollins, Altobelli, Dobbek, Billy Gardner, Jose Vadilvielso. That's it!

Kaat mentioned this during the Twins' broadcast last night--original Twin Hal Naragon passed away at age 90. Not many left from the inaugural 1961 team.

One-time back-up Twins catcher Tom Prince out as bench coach in PIT.

https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2019/10/pirates-part-ways-with-ray-searage-tom-prince.html

Prince will probably be interviewed for managerial vacancies and could get one. He’s going to be a good “pitchers” manager. I still remember years ago, Lohse was on the mound, maybe as a rookie. He wasn’t getting lit up really, but he wasn’t pitching well. Prince was in his face between innings for several minutes (as seen on camera). I don’t know what he said, but as I recall Lohse pitched 5 more innings and allowed like 1 or 2 baserunners.

If he could handle Lohse, he's got some qualifications.

It's different seeing Brian Dozier at this point in his career.

In the WC game 2017 he went 2-4 with a leadoff HR in top 1. Since then, he's gone 2-20 in 14 playoff games since. Only starting 4 of those games.

Saw AJ Pierzynski was commenting on the Rays Astros game the other day.

This warms my heart.

And he was really, really good, IMO. Funny, insightful, not inclined to talk too much.

It was only a couple games I heard, but I bet He'd be a great choice for Twins broadcasts. And they need a new color guy.

What caught my eye (it was closed captions at a bar) was his fellow announcers being surprised at something he noticed, and he replied "well, i pay attention"

Hope he gets to do more!

Sure enough, Grossman ranked 1st in UZR/150 among qualified AL outfielders who primarily played LF. And his other metrics (DRS and TZ) seem comparable too.
