Someone should show Spielman the league success rate of 6-7 round picks. Then they should show him HIS success rate. Why does he like to collect these picks, it’s not like he does more with them than other clubs do? Trade away 6-7 round picks, not FOR them.

There’s not enough roster spots for a half dozen 6-7 rounders. Which year will he realize this?

And probably 70+% chance anyone you draft in round seven could have been a UDFA.

After round three, it is fairly random. So trade back from round four makes sense. More darts. But not from round three to later...

And the trade back netted a running back that will never amount to anything. Passed up in a bunch of talent. C- grade on this draft imo.

I've made my love for Montgomery known (damn the Bears), but I like him.  These Broncos guys have a good track record on finding backs and he ran a lot of inside zone at Boise.

Watch the highlights, this dude runs with authority, is a weapon in the passing game, and a savant at finding creases.  He'll take what looks like a stuffed run and turn it into 4 yards.  Turn a 4 yard run into 7.

He's not a gamebreaker, but he's damn solid.  I saw someone comp him to Jay Ajayi...seems about right.

I just think backs like that are a dime a dozen. They passed up so much talent to take this guy. Maybe he'll turn into a serviceable counter punch, but I think guys like him aren't hard to find.

I hope they grab the buffalo qb, a lb or two, dbs, and wr with the remaining picks. Diggs was a 5th round... and thielen undrafted. There is still talent in these late rounds, hopefully Rick finds it.

Reminds me a bit of the guy he's replacing- Latavius Murray.

On one hand, I agree with Badsmerf.

But, on the other hand, if it's so easy to find, why aren't Boone, Thomas, or Abdullah that guy?

So, maybe they aren't a dime a dozen.

Yeah, that's fair. I like the player, but it's hard to feel like we got value with him.  I feel like he might have still been there in a round or so.

Which tells me these guys loved him.  I hope they're right, the DB talent on the board is still really good and this seems like a reach.  (Even if I like what I see)

Day 3 players for me:

My favorite safeties Chauncey Gardner-Johnson and Amani Hooker are both still there.  They can even play a little slot CB like Mathieu/Budda Baker

CB Julian Love

G Dru Samia

DE D'Andre Walker

C/G Michael Jordan

DE Anthony Nelson

DT Gerald Willis

S Deionte Thompson

DE Joe Johnson

G Ben Powers

ILB Mack Wilson

LB Terril Hanks

G Nate Herbig

DT Renell Wren

OT David Edwards

C/OG Ross Piersbacher

DE Austin Bryant

Still a lot of talent around

Wait, they drafted a long snapper? Has that...ever happened?

I think they need an upgrade as all things special teams have gone downhill since Loeffler was let go, but I'm still kind of shocked.

A week ago I would have felt bad for McDermott. But, I lost all respect for him when he refused to call out Tyreke Hill on KFAN morning show on Friday.

He's not alone, I realize. The next NFL player to cross the "brotherhood" and call out a fellow player that beats women or children will be the first, which sickens me.

Go Austin Cutting! (For now.)

After reading some more on these guys drafted, I feel it was a solid draft. The biggest question I have is the RB taken after sliding down and missing better talent. Maybe he'll price me wrong. I also would have liked to see more talent at WR, LB than they drafted. Guys like the Oklahoma tackle, and Arkansas DT are great high reward picks.

They got solid value with Bradbury and he will step in day one and make this line much better.  Dru Samia is a really interesting player and could be perfect for the scheme.

Udoh is one helluva physical prospect at tackle too.

Irv Smith could make or break this draft IMO.  It's solid, not spectacular, unless those first two picks become studs.  I was surprised there were no pass rushers taken to groom.

Yeah they must really have faith that Everson's issues are behind him, and that his performance after his return was not indicative of his potential.

I hope they're right.

The Arkansas kid found a lot of sacks last year. Pressure up the middle is the best kind imo. I think edge rushers benefit more from the scheme than elite talent. Maybe they think Everson can bounce back and be effective for another year. They seemed to get good production even without him, so maybe it just want a need.

Yeah, I wasn't thrilled with the day 2 drafting. I hope Smith is great, but I'm just not a fan of the TE position. Most QBs don't utilize them much in the passing game any longer, and frankly, I'm already worried about giving Cousins more excuses to check down.

And a RB in round 3? Pass, especially for a plodding downhill runner. I would have rather stayed put or traded up for some of the more popular D line guys than grab a back up running back. I didn't feel this team needed to address the skill positions this early when there seemed to be considerable OL, DL, LB and DB talent available which appeared way more pressing.

Agree with you on all that.

There are offenses that use the TE very effectively as a middle to downfield threat.  Kelce, Kittle, Gronk, and even in Washington with Cousins.  I think we're just used to how limited Rudolph is that we see the TE as a check down.  Smith offers more than that, which is why I'm excited.

I'm with you on when they took a RB.  Only two backs were worth a third or higher IMO and both were already gone.  I trust these Denver guys and the guy they took is a one-cut, zone blocking type back.  But I think they overdrafted him.  At that pick I would've much preferred Vosean Joseph or Amani Hooker, guys that could hvae been high upside projects for us.  So they better be right on him or that will be a knock on this draft class.
