Article: What You Need To Know About Nelson Cruz

Recommended Posts

Ok, we just need to figure out which player doesn't have a cell phone or email in 2019, and we'll know for ourselves who was removed.

Or is on vacation and ignoring all calls, which is what I'd do. Might not be an option for them though.

My guess is Zack Granite's agent sent him this text a few days ago:

"TURN OFF YOUR PHONE! And leave it off. I'll be in touch via snail mail."

When times turned tough at Control Data and then Cray Research, I found that fingers in the ears and "la la la la la la la la la" worked best for me.

Reed is a good candidate to rebound. Also, he has trade value. Let's not forget, we had members who wanted to DFA Gibson and Pressly before last season.

I think Reed is going to come back and have a good season this year. He was hurt last year, and his prior track record is good. He also has good stuff in his repertoire.

I heard LVN3 on with Bump on KFAN (which we all know is full of super bright baseball minds) yesterday and he mentioned that there were some murmurs that Cruz may play OF like once a week/week and a half or so next year? There's no way that can possibly be true, right?

The article in the STrib mentions that very thing as a possibility, especially in interleague play.

40-man is already down to only 21 pitchers.  With the abundance of outfielders, 7, I will be shocked if the player DFA'd isn't Granite or Reed.  Won't DFA/trade any pitchers until they need a spot to add that relief pitcher brought in for the end of the bullpen.

He had a 100% fielding percentage in the outfield the past two years. If we don't dig into his fielding any further past that we could stay satisfied with the idea.

I'm just relieved they're not putting some hack out there like Kirilloff.

Is this directed towards me for a reason? I am not sure how it fits either my few previous comments about Kirilloff or anything we need to know about the Cruz deal. Maybe you are advocating for Kirilloff to start in the majors opening day instead of signing Cruz.

I can assure you I would never call a human a hack or trash or something from a dumpster.

The sad truth is there are people that think just looking at fielding percentages is how you judge a player defensively.

As Chief said. The Twins have some interleague games in NL parks right away in April. I'd be disappointed if they didn't play Cruz in the OF a little.
