I concur with just 1 arm rest. The old man on my morning flight made himself quite comfortable by taking both arm rests. I’m not sure when he last showered either so I was as close to the window I could possibly be...

Choosing the upgrade is smart!

I used to do that more often, but it's just too expensive ... both in cost and/or miles ... but once a year ... I'm good with that, especially since I travel to/from Florida about 6-7 times/year.

Thanks. The exact storm track is still up for grabs....

We've got 3 children flying in for Christmas, in the air on different flights even as I type. Ah, modern life. Fortunately none are flying near Seattle and the weather there.

Ya, I'm not even thrilled my one son might drive into the mountains to ski tomorrow on his way from Seattle.....

Travel is looking clear on both ends of my trip on Tuesday. That said ... I don't know (yet) from where the aircraft is coming that will take me to my destination. Sometimes it's not about the weather on either end of the trip. If it's one of those routes that is just back and forth, great; but often it's coming from elsehwere. So, I have gotten into the habit when I fly American to check the onbound flight of the inbound flight of the inbound flight to determine how my travel day may go. (Can't seem to do that on Southwest as they tend not to give out inbound aircraft information when you check flight status info. And once when I asked a gate agent from where the aircraft was coming for our flight, she answered 'Why do you need to know that?' and I said, 'So I can track potential delays for myself.' She scoffed and said, 'You don't need to know that.' I mean, what?)

*Plane stops at the gate*

Everyone in row 24 and later immediately get out of their seat and clog the hallway, expecting to get out of the plane at that exact moment.

Never seizes to amazing me... Every single flight.

Depending on the length of the flight, that would be me ... after sitting for a few hours, I just want to stand up and stretch, and put some breathing space, even if minimal, between me and my seat mate.

A real conversation I just had boarding a plane and getting to my seat...

Me: “I’m the window seat.”

Lady in middle seat: “Oh, okay. Do you want me to slide down?”

Me: “What?”

Lady in middle seat: “You want me to slide down to the window seat so you don’t have to get by me?”

Me: “No... I want the seat I paid for.”

Lady in middle seat begrudgingly gets up and glares at me like I’m in the wrong...

I respect she took her shot upgrading from middle to window seat. Makes me wonder if she got away with that before.

I had something similar happen to me once. I was on the aisle, already seated, when window seat guy comes in. I get up to let him in when he says, 'If you don't mind sitting by the window, I'd prefer the aisle.' I just said, 'I prefer the aisle as well, sorry.' He gets in and says, 'Just so you know, I'll probably be getting up a lot during the flight.' To which I said, 'I don't mind. I understand that that is part of having an aisle seat.'

He got up once during the 3 hr flight. It's not that I won't change seats for someone of need, but then you should make your requests known to the gate agent so he/she can sort it out and not try and 'manipulate' the seat you want during the boarding process.

But a middle seat person thinking that anyone will take the middle seat over either the aisle or window ... I don't know when that would ever happen, unless it's with two people wanting to sit next to one another.

And yes, she's gotten away with it before.

That would be me, actually.

I'm 6'3". I stand up because the moment I have an opportunity to de-preztel myself out of a typical airline seat, I will do so.

Heh ... I'm a foot shorter and I still just want to stand, because, after a long flight, I want to stand.

This lady was something else... No less than 10 minutes after drinks were served she pushes the attendant button, and says to the flight attendant “I need water right now, there’s a chip stuck in my throat.”

Flight attendant: “Can it wait? We just put the drinks away.”

Lady: “No I need something right now.”

Flight attendant brings her a glass of water no less than 2 minutes after the demand...

“Thanks I don’t need it anymore.”

Flight attendant looks dumbfounded, shakes her head and walks away.

Charlotte Airport is delayed multiple hours for Southwest flights. Tornado warnings yesterday and 4+ inches of rain. I just want to get the hell out of here soon.

If you are flying Southwest, you at Midway? Wave to me from the air. My building is one of those by the lake.

I feel your pain... Hope you can get out of there safely!

The weather reports now show just light snow about the time I'm now scheduled to depart. Wish they had a reason for cancelling the other flight - probably was full enough. They gave me the option of leaving earlier, but no way I could have made it to the airport in time. At least it wasn't cancelled while sitting there waiting for it. I just get to hang out at home a bit longer.
