I'm not complaining, but I'm shocked he was fired.

You could see even on the broadcast how angry Zimmer was at Flip. I'm sure there was an ultimatum this morning: either Zim or Flip was going to survive moving forward.

I know cousins isn't playing well enough, but what was the alternative? It's like when people here say FAs aren't worth it, ignoring that you'd have to have some random AAA player play instead. This is supposed to be a SB team, missing only a QB (and OL).....this is a final piece move. Keenum? Ha. Teddy? Maybe. But look at the options......

And firing DeFlipio (sp?) is the right move, imo.

Agreed. I was all in on Kirk and still feel that way today, even though right now it looks like the wrong decision. This team wasn't going anywhere with Keenum leading the way again. And we still haven't seen Teddy play in 2 years so he's a complete unknown starting 16 games.

Regardless, bold moves like this usually result in a lot of people getting fired. The OC is the first of potentially several firings over the next year or 2.

Agree completely. And, Cousins HAS played well this year, very well in some games. How do we know if the poor play recently has to do more with the scheme than him? If we're frustrated with how the playcalling looks... I have to imagine the players are furious.

Whatever the case, it wasn't working. The ball should constantly be in the hands of Thielen, Diggs, Cook, and keeping defenses honest with Rudolph, Treadwell, etc.

For weeks Treadwell has been the primary read on pass plays which has driven me bonkers. Good teams know how to motion their best guys around to get them into open space. KC immediately comes to mind with how often Tyreek Hill moves around pre-snap.

We have 2 of the better WRs in the game. It's unacceptable Thielen had 0 targets through nearly 3 quarters of play last night.

I don't know how anyone could be shocked by this.

They went out and signed a 28m/ year QB to go with Diggs, Thielen and Cook, and they basically get shut out by an ok, but not great defense? The week after scoring just 10 against another ok but not great defense?

Zero creativity in the offense, dink after dunk after dink, constant routes short of the sticks on third down, constant Murray up the gut on short yardage.

EDIT: Completely forgot about the mind boggling continued use of Treadwell, thanks Vanimal.

If you bought rack of lamb, only to see your chef grind it up and make sloppy joes, you'd have to fire him.

The offensive line is bad, but there is still way too much talent to get shutout by Seattle.

It's the timing.  Firing coordinators at this time of the season, with a team in the Vikings' position is unusual.  I'm not questioning the justification or anything, but I'm surprised given the timing.

Unusual sure. But this is not a usual situation.

How many teams come into a season with the expectations this team did? Couple that with the fact that they are probably all gone if they miss the playoffs, and the sad, almost comical distinction that we saw on offense yesterday, and I personally don't see any way they don't fire him. The only surprise to me is that Spielman didn't tell Zimmer to go with him.

I'm not sure I've ever seen an offense that bad, and that's not even adjusting for the talent they have. I mean, they did a play action to Murray, then turned around and threw it to him, straight toward the wrong endzone. Bizarre. Never in my life seen something like that, not even in a high school game.

I'm not disagreeing, it's just so unprecedented and unique I might've been shocked by just about any decisive thing they did.

I think he deserves to lose his job. When opposing defenders are mocking your predictability....it's over.

Let's also not forget that Zimmer hand picked this guy, despite the fact that Philly had an open OC position and still let him leave, and the fact that their styles were obviously likely to clash from the start.
