You are referring to Bud Norris? He was bad the last 1.5 months or so. May be you will get something out of him at the beginning of the season if he is throwing 95. St. Louis was no longer interested.

Lizard king since he ate a live lizard. St. Louis has him for 5 more years now. I am wondering if they will get 3.5 years out of him knowing how often pitchers get injured. The last 4 of St. Louis longer-term pitching contracts time was lost.

The Braves are holding Josh Donaldson out until Wednesday. They prescribed exercises to buttress his calves.

After having calf injuries the last 3 years was it worth the risk of signing him for $23 million a year? Who's going to sign him to longterm contract?

I was surprised by the money, myself. But they have money to burn, and didn't do much else....

The Dodgers are DFA'ing Josh Fields, owner of a 2.20 ERA last season, which was backed up by a 0.95 WHIP and good control (2.4 BB/9) and decent whiff capacity (7.2 K/9) and also had a really good 2017 season as well. The Twins should absolutely make a waiver claim, but I'd rather have them throw a lottery ticket at this guy in a trade. With Addison Reed looking like his career is toast and potentially having poor pitchers like Magill and Duffey slated for innings, I'd much rather bring Fields in and have him help maintain this bullpen.

Actually Fields just got released, per MLBTR:

So he's available without a waiver claim or trade necessary.

Good stats, but MLBTR's use of "extreme fly ball" pitcher has me concerned. Maybe that doesn't matter with the Twins' OF defense and the division having somewhat hitter neutral parks.

Sign me up, our outfield defense is very good defensively (much better than infield).

A 3.60 FIP in the NL, which probably becomes 4.10'ish in the AL. No thanks. There is a reason a playoff team didn't want him.

Maybe on a non 40 man milb deal for depth at AAA in case of a few injuries, but that'd be the extent of my interest.

So, I read a yahoo story the other day that noted that Angel Hernandez kicked a manager out of a ST game in the first inning.

The article further noted that CB Bucknor attempted to come between the two to attempt to calm the situation.

Bucknor AND Hernandez on the SAME CREW!?

Somehow, MLB thinks this is a good idea?

Is Joe West the crew chief?

2/$17.5 with an option year to make it 3/$27.5. Sigh... Didn't need him!

Wow, that's quite the team friendly extension! Hopefully the Twins can develop the prospects they got for him and make it a worthwhile trade... but it's looking like a great move for the Astros.
