Angels Requiring Test for Potential Managers

I just don’t understand why it’s written. Why isn’t it a verbal test and just called, you know, an interview?

Do the applicants at least get to use a word processor or are they required to bring their #2 pencils?

That's really my reaction too.

I mean, I'm probably like a sizable group of people at this site, who excelled at written tests back in the day. So you'd think I'd be favorably disposed. But, how many important decisions that a manager makes arrive at his desk in well-constructed form like a written test likely will be?

And if the questions on the test are sufficiently free-form to negate that concern, then why not just ask the questions and listen to the nuanced answers, in an interview?

If the concern is to determine whether a candidate is "analytical enough", it can be done without the artificial scenario of a test.

I wonder how many viable candidates have said "pff" and walked away when they heard of this.

PS. No programmable calculators. Slide rules are allowed however.

I imagine the test would probably include personality traits that they are going to run through something. IIRC, football players take some pretty stupid "tests" where they get asked questions like "Is it better to win a game or hang out with your friends." Or such nonsense.

33. A "double switch" can best be described as _______________________________.

a. Adrian Peterson's preferred parenting device.

b. A railroad construction design allowing two trains travelling in opposite directions to safely pass each other.

c. A substitution method often used in the National League of American Baseball whereby the manager simultaneously swaps out both the pitcher and a position player, with the goal of putting the incoming pitcher into the batting order position that made the last out in the previous half inning.

d. RALLY MONKEY!!
