someone explain to me why Cody Bellinger celebrates hitting into an inning-ending 3-2-3 double play but reaches base anyway when the catcher makes a poor throw back to first for an error...

When did he celebrate? If you mean after the play, I would, they scored. Puig crushed that ball.

He's standing on first base and his team is leading 1-0. You'd feel good too. :)

Watching Roberts keep putting Madson in, and him giving up the inherited world series runs - now 7! - blows me away. Alex Wood is getting clobbered in the playoffs, too, but Roberts just keeps doing the match-up thing. But like us watching Molitor pretend Hildenberger is the guy to go to when he is getting clobbered over and over, these managers just have a formula that they can't bring themselves to sense what everybody watching can feel. I would have given Hill the opportunity to finish the inning, batter by batter. That curve was cranking, and he was only at 91 pitches, and eating up the Red Sox.

Not to mention Jansen who has been awful since coming back from his heart ailment.

Well, I certainly didn't suspect the Dodgers would blow that 4 run lead so quickly. Roberts probably went to the bullpen a bit early, but who knows, Hill could have started to fall apart. Starters usually aren't as good when facing the lineup for the 3rd time in a game...

I heard on the radio that Roberts was actually considering an opener for tonight, too.

Batter by batter.... he was pulled with one out and a runner on first..... pitching a one hitter..... FOR ANOTHER LEFTY!~

Roberts is a fool all too often.

I may have to jump off the Sign Manny Machado Bus after a second attempt at stepping on Pearce's foot at first...not quite as bad as dead-legging Aguilar but still obvious attempt to injure

/edit saw another replay and Pearce had a lot of the base covered so I'm only grabbing the let me off the bus line at this point

Machado purposely steps on Pearce's heel..... and Joe Buck says "he was just trying to beat the throw". I guess the huge rest of the base is too hard to get to.... the almost square foot that doesn't have a foot barely touching it. And last night Joe Buck says Turner "was just going straight into second base" when he so obviously took his right foot and purposely took out Bogaerts shin..... by kicking it about three foot away from the base as he slid right into second base.

Come on...........Joe. Get real.

And Manny.... grow up and just play clean baseball.

Hill was already most of the way through the order for his 3rd time. Started that in 5th, and the Sox were 0-5 with a walk in their 3rd trip. Leadoff walk of Bogaerts (on a 3-2 pitch), followed by a 3 pitch strikeout of Nunez, last 3 lineup spots due up, 4-0 lead, spent pen. I think it is pretty clear Hill should have had more of a leash, at least 2-3 batters more.

We don't really know how these players act in high tension situations until they're in it. I'm really disappointed in Machado's attempts to hurt people on the field. Not sure I want the highest paid player on the team to act in that kind of fashion.

At this point....how long has it been since the NL was even close to the same caliber as the AL?

I know they win WS (small sample size), but overall.....aren't we showing again why there is quite a disparity between the leagues right now?  I'm not sure, in terms of talent, I'd favor any NL team over even the Oakland A's much less the Yanks, Sox, Astros, Indians, etc.

LA was better last season and came close to winning it all. This season, not so much. The Red Sox are a dominant team... You can see the delta this year between a team that won 108 games and one that won 92.

Boston's run with 2 out hits and runs scored is truly impressive.

I really hate to see the season end, and hope we get a 6 or 7 game series, though.

Boston-Houston was the actual World Series.

But no matter, the Twins aren’t giving back their 87 Trophy, nor should LA if they come back this year.

It was a disappointing series in my opinion

I thought both teams showed a lot of heart, and the games were played for the most part at a high level. When I don't have a strong direct rooting interest, those pretty much check all the boxes for me.
