Read an article yesterday saying that Kratz was 3rd among 39 catchers in pitch framing. He may have just showed it.

I believe it. Not to mention some gutsy pitch-calling there late.

Dozier actually got the start tonight, batting fifth, and delivers an RBI single in the first inning.

Ironically he's the only one with an RBI so far with the rest of the Dodgers club being pretty terrible in these RISP situations.

I went to bed last night around 10:30 and checked the score right away in the morning. In the past I a) would have stayed up til the bitter end B) been pissed that I went to bed and missed the end of a close game.

Today, I just felt relief that I didn't bother to try and stay up to watch this nonsense.

When all is said and done, I don't mind the pace of the game, while I am watching it.

It's just the cumulative effect, that results in a bedtime after midnight, that I can't agree to.

If I happened to be on West Coast time during the post-season, I'd be watching it from start to finish, anytime circumstances allowed.

Potentially our last baseball doubleheader of 2018! (There will hopefully be another one Saturday, if the Astros win one of the next 2 games and the NLCS goes to 7 games.)

NLCS Game 5

Milwaukee Brewers at Los Angeles Dodgers

(series tied 2-2)

TV: FS1

7:39 pm CST

ALCS Game 4

Boston Red Sox at Houston Astros

(BOS leads 2-1)

TV: TBS

I suppose I should have included today's probable starting pitchers (although who knows how long they will pitch anymore!).

MIL at LAD

Wade Miley vs Clayton Kershaw

BOS at HOU

Rick Porcello vs Charlie Morton

Morton has me worried -- he had some late-season injury issues, so he hasn't pitched at all since Sep. 30 (regular season), and hasn't gone longer than 3 innings since Sep. 15. And a loss would put Boston up 3-1 in the series.

Your "cumulative effect" comment sums it up well, particularly for those of us in EDT.

I'm traveling to Arizona for work this weekend, and I'm looking forward to experiencing MST zone for watching games. Even last night's game would have been over at what, 10:30?

Not quite. Per Baseball-Reference:

Start Time: 9:09 p.m. ET
Game Duration: 5:15

That would peg the end at 12:24 a.m. MST.

EDIT: per ashburyjohn, it was actually 11:24 MST in Arizona because they don't do daylight savings time.

Everybody else is still on Daylight time. I think that makes it 11:24, just like PDT.

Still way too late for Chief of course.

Miley, a lefty, is starting pitcher for Brewers. He pitches to one batter, walks him, and is replaced with a right hander.

Presumably to take advantage of the Dodgers lineup that was drawn up to face the lefty.

Dear baseball smart guys,

Please just stop with this.

That includes you, FalVine.

Yours,

Hosken.

I don't know if it's the manager, the GM, or some combination. I don't know if the starter knew this was going to happen. I hope we find all of that out and I hope the Brewers get destroyed today. I just can't get on board with it.

I'm with you.

The broadcast said everyone was aware beforehand. You could almost hear Smoltz biting his lip as to not just tear into this "strategy".
