Two game 163s tomorrow.

Two divisional tiebreaks tomorrow. All teams will make the playoffs but it needs to be determined who are the divisional winners and who will be the WC. I’ll be cheering on Colorado over LA and Milwaukee over Chicago.

The high importance of winning these games illustrates why I like the current postseason format. It puts a higher premium on winning a division than when there was only one wild card team.

By the way, there almost would have been a third game tomorrow. The Pirates had been scheduled to host the Marlins in a makeup game but that wound up being canceled sometime last week.

I don't think I have an emotional wish for who wins the WS but it has been 70 years since the Cleveland team did that so that would be kind of cool. It will be a tough go for them, as the other four AL teams in postseason play had better regular season records, and that was in spite of Cleveland having a much easier regular season schedule.

FWIW, Cleveland actually has a better Pythag record than Oakland this season, and only 1 win behind the Yankees. By BaseRuns (sequencing), they are within 1 win of Oakland too.

They're behind Boston and Houston for sure, but Fangraphs still gives them a 41.9% chance of beating Houston in the ALDS, and 21.4% chance of representing the AL in the World Series.

Game 163 also means one more shot for Christian Yelich to win the triple crown. He's trailing Arenado by 1 HR and Javier Baez by 2 RBI to be the first winner since Miggy Cabrera in 2012.

Does Miami have any other players in their prime they'd like to trade away? How about a catcher maybe?

Good observation. One might be able to catch some favorable odds at your favorite sports book.

They do have a catcher, but depending on who you ask, he's going to be too expensive.

Shoulda put a smiley face on my comment. Not my intent to launch a Realmuto digression - just a sad sidenote on Miami's sorry situation.

I should have put one on mine too... We were on the same sarcastic page :)

Where the heck did Yelich's power come from this year? With Miami he was like one of those dinosaur hitters who was still sticking with the flat as table swing, trying to generate line drives.

Is whatever update Yelich got available for Max Kepler in the App Store?

Former Twin Randy Rosario just struck out Christian Yelich with 2 runners on.

Former Twin Brandon Kintzler followed, though, and gave up a run-scoring single to Ryan Braun...

And former Twin Jaime Garcia is on to pitch the 9th for the Cubs, down 3-1.

I wonder what it would take for the Cubs to bring in former Twin Brian Duensing and his 7.65 ERA?

I just like that the Brewers went out and said "we are going to have a much better OF." and did it. They didn't sit around, or say they already had good enough players. Good for them.

Couldn't agree more. They could have easily stood pat with what they had. Brinson is a highly rated prospect and I'm sure the others in the trade package were too.

When you have a chance to get an established MLB starter for lottery tickets do it.
