Minnesota Wild season 2018-2019

I figured I would start a new forum for the upcoming season. Most Wild players have been in MN for the past two weeks going through captain practices and the Wild opened up training camp today. The first preseason game is this following Monday on September 17th.

Sokolov doesn't seem to have put much work in over the summer...which is a bummer since he has so much offensive talent.

The price tag for Karlsson seemed light.  Would've loved to be in on that.

Yea I definitely thought they would have gotten more proven talent for him, however Chris Tierney is a solid young centerman and they gave up three good draft picks. I don't know much about Norris or Balcers but they're also young and were drafted recently so they have potential. It'll be interesting to see what his contract is once they resign him. The Sharks are going to have a tough time filling out that roster once they sign him to $8MM + per season. Five players will likely account for ~ $48MM of the total $80MM CAP.

The roster is pretty much set now. The Wild should be a very deep team and it'll be an interesting season. I'm predicting another 100 point season for the Wild and a second place finish within the division. Ek is going to have a breakout season with 45 points.

What are we looking at for lines right now?

Zucker-Staal-Granlund

Parise-Koivu-Nino

Coyle-Greenway-Foligno

Brown-Ek-Hendricks

That sound right?

Zucker - Stall - Granlund

Parise - Koivu - Nino

Ek - Greenway - Coyle

Foligno - Fehr - Brown / Henricks

Suter - Dumba

Brodin - Spurgeon

Seeler - Patyrn

I don’t like the look of that 11-9-22 line you guys both have. Have they been putting that out in the preseason?

Yea, according to Russo these will most likely be the lines at the start of the season. You could see a flip flop between Nino and Coyle if these lines aren't working and it sounds like BB also tried Nino as a left wing on line 3. Nino prefers to play on the right wing as a lefty shot so when he comes down the ice he has the puck in the middle of the ice.

Seems like a solid trade for the Wild. They're deep on defense and Olofsson just can't stay healthy. Britton is 20 year old right handed right wing, which the Wild desperately need. This will be his first year starting in the AHL as he's spent the past two years in the OHL. He has put up solid numbers based on the link below and he's under Wild control for three years.

The NHL schedule drives me bonkers. The Wild played on Saturday 10/6. Their next game is Thursday 10/11. Why in the world do they need 4 days off in between games? No wonder why the season drags on into late April.

Don't worry, the Wild I'm sure have a series of games where they play 7 times in 10 nights or something in March. Gotta have that rest between the second and third games of the season!

I'm sure they do, and it will be during a time when Zucker or Parise are banged up. It makes no sense at all to have 4 days of rest this early in the season.

Second season in a row with that big gap early in the season too. While other teams are getting some nice days off late season when they're banged up and actually need the rest.

What the hell is going on with this team too? That OT shift by Parise last night was beyond bad and how are you going to give up 57 shots on goal, even with the garbage game by the refs? Obviously its super early but with how stacked the central is and with some of the central teams improving this offseason, we really can't afford to get off to a slow start.

The Wild have played much better the last two games against Nashville and Arizona. I don't like seeing players get injured but hopefully with Hendricks likely out for a few games they bring up a guy from Iowa and he injects some energy and speed into the team. I like Hendricks but holy f*** is he slow. The Wild can't keep running him, Foligno and Fehr out on the same line because they can't keep up with other teams.

They are making sure Parise stays healthy for a few weeks?

Is that Yeo’s last HC gig in the big leagues? I’m guessing it’s over for him. Never liked him.

For a long time, yeah. Hockey coaches are full of retreads so I'm sure he'll find a spot on someone's staff as the power play coach or something like that.
