Article: TEX 18, MIN 4: Speechless

Recommended Posts

I quit watching when it was in the 5th inning. We’ve had losing seasons for at least 6 out of the last 8, or 9 years. So we had high draft choices for so many of those years. Where are all of these players? This front office is so disappointing. Where do they get all of these players that have been called up? Ultimately, the responsibility for these debacles lies with management. Absentee ownership is what we have. You must have interest in your product. It’s at the embarrassment level now!

On a side note: Why would somebody buy a tickets to watch this mess?

It's about time for Terry to ride in on his white horse again to whittle payroll.

My favorite part of the game was where Texas tagged up on a fly ball to the warning track in the eighth inning and Dick grumbles, "You can bet that the Twins dugout took note of that."

Wow. Almost makes me wish I had watched the broadcast. Almost. All the Twins needed today was for Gimenez to throw toss lob one at somebody's head.

It becomes harder and harder to see any progress from this front office.

They’ve had two years to rework this 40 man and we get Gimenez, Belisle and Field on Sep 1st. And there’s basically nothing else intriguing enough on the 40 man to call up. Including, somehow, Buxton.

They’ve dismantled the team, we know they can do that. What else have they done?

I was embarassed to call this “my team” today. Their starting lineup was an insult to the game of baseball. We had 4 “regulars” starting today in a game that, granted, had no meaning except to the ardent followers of the Twins. Two of today’s starters were a backup catcher- hitting around .150 IN THE MINORS- that had to play first base because no one else could apparently, and some guy named Field who is 1 for 20 this year!!!

This organization is in crisis mode right now. Two teams lower in the division race- Chicago and Detroit- have arguably made significantly more improvement this year.

Our 2 faces of the franchise-Buxton and Sano-have disappeared and regressed. Our 3rd All-Star, Jose Berrios, has been horrible since August 1. And more importantly, management refuses to bring up younger players to possibly gain experience in September.

For an organization that has had a “total system failure” and endured “ bilateral leg weakness”- it can’t get any worse. And now comes Houston. Gulp!!!

The front office lost me today. After nearly 2 years in charge the team has an old back up catcher playing 1B, Grossman with his .700 ops as cleanup hitter and dh and Fields for whatever reason being on the team at all.

2 years to turn this around and that's the kind of garbage we have to watch. Luckily today I took a nap and missed most of it.

The TV guys are going no room for Buxton with Cave playing so well, could Cave play LF instead of Field? Guess not. Could Buxton play LF better than Field? Guess not.

This is garbage piled on top of garbage. Somebody should get fired!

Ditto Ditto Ditto all the way.

So, we experimented with the "opener." Didn't go well. OK. Throwaway game, get our brains beat in. OK, it happens. At least the kids on the roster got some experi.... wait a minute...

If we're going to lose these games this way, why in the *heck* are we losing them with the likes of Giminez (at 1B!), Field, Belisle, Duffey, A Reed, Grossman hitting cleanup- it's like Falvine and MoY just decided to B-slap the fans for showing up.

THIS was how the owner's plan was supposed to go in the Major League movie. I saw that one already. It was much more entertaining.

Cripe, Curtiss is on the 40-man, not called up. Instead we get Duff, a known quantity, and the other usual suspects. Thorpe is on the 40-man, why not give him a little taste? And WHY is Belisle there at all, taking up a September spot when any number of bullet-throwers from Roch are cooling their heels. A. Reed has been gassed since June, why not just shut him down? He's not going to regain velocity NOW! And then, maybe J. Reed can take his spot, and they don't even have to stitch another name on a jersey.

Just sickening. I'm done now. Been done for a while, but at least still interested. Now the interest is gone, too. Gonna go follow the Cubs the rest of the way.

I'm still willing to hang on for a bit longer with Falvine, but this latter part of the season shakes my faith. And if MoY is in the dugout next spring, I'm not even going to bother.

Good question

Season Ticket Holders are now being asked to put their money down for next year. Dave St. Peter must truly be living in a bubble.

i could say i told you so but other than that I am speechless. I can't wait to see the actual attendance figures for the next home stand. I mean Actual attendance not advance ticket sales. Does anyone know how many years we would have to eat if we fired the Falvines before the winter meetings?

Despite having 13 man pitching staffs for the first five months and 37 in September they still need to go to their back up catcher every other month,

Yes? Check out how many times Craig Counsell has used non-pitchers in games this season... He also uses their backup catcher and backup infielder to pitch. The Brewers are what others strive to be from a rebuild and analytics standard no?

On an unrelated note, I hope this "opener" idea is a fad that goes away quickly... I believe developing good SP is one of the most important things a baseball organization should do. This "opener" idea feels like a cop out for failing to develop SP.

Well, today the 3rd is AAA last game.  Now we'll see what the F.O. does.  Let me name some of the Guys left that could/should get called up.  Anderson,Bard,Baxendale,Curtiss,Eades,Reed.  Only Curtiss is on the 40 man roster.  In the Field- Vargas,Wade,Pacheco,Petit,Gordon.  None of these guys are on the 40 man roster.  Of course this list is an exaggeration, but after yesterday's game, arn't some of these guys better and more exciting to watch then Belisle,Duffey,Reed,Gimenez,Field.  This is the F.O's choice for the 40 man roster and its piss poor at this point of the season.

Well, maybe Molitor sensed blood in the water and decided to chum with expendable veterans.

Trying to find silver linings, I'm thinking Cave is pulling into a dead heat with Kepler right now as far as future value.

...

...

Um, I'll keep thinking about this.

Wow, quite a bit of overreacting to a game worth 1/162 of the season.

Agreed.  I didn't see any of the game and thought there might be some light hearted LOLs in here today, but wow.

A holiday Sunday road game in September from a team who has been out in awhile.  A lineup that didn't feature Mauer, Rosario, Sano or Garver.  A bullpen game from the start.  Polanco, Kepler and Cave and Moya are the only players who played yesterday who should have a real future for the Twins.  Not worth getting your panties in a bunch over.
