I am guessing, and call my cynical, that they are trying to get innings in him, hopefully scoreless to lower that ERA, for trade value?

 

That's all I can think off, once he hit that batter.  Why would you leave him in, and MOY rarely let's guys go over the 100 pitch count (Unless you are Jose and pitching a shutout)....

I get that Molitor was trying to get some extra outs out of Lynn to conserve the bullpen, but the time to pull him was after he hit the first batter of the inning.  Now Pressly comes in with the tying run in scoring position and the go ahead run is on base.

This is on Molitor for sending out Lynn, and then leaving him in after the HBP.

He’s driven in 7 more runs than Mauer.

Morrison's a home run hitter, Mauer's not. It boils down to that, plus opportunity. Going into today's game...

 

With no one on base, Mauer's come up 160 times, Morrison 179. Mauer went yard once, LoMo 6 times.

 

With a man only on first, Mauer has had 45 chances, doubled twice, and driven in nobody. Morrison has had 42 chances, doubled once and homered twice, and that one double seems to have plated his guy, for a total of 5 ribs.

 

With all other situations, i.e. at least a runner on second, Joe's gotten 51 chances, hit 3 doubles and a homer, driving in 22. Logan's had 74 chances, hit 3 doubles and 2 homers, and driven in 19.

 

Mauer was on the DL for a while, accounting partly for the difference in PA. He's actually done better, with the fewer RISP chances he's had. No question that Morrison will beat him on solo shots.
