Game Thread: White Sox @ Twins 6/6 @ 5:10 pm PT (7:10pm CT)

It helps that the twins continue to be unable to drive a ball to the OF or the right side with a runner at third base

LaMarre absolutely drilled that ball. The defender happened to be in the exact spot to catch it because he couldn't move more than a foot before the ball reached him.

That's luck. If you hit the ball 100mph and an infielder somehow manages to catch it, you (the hitter) did your job, you just ran into baseball luck.

Without the injuries/suspensions...Escobar would have been on the bench :)

That just shows how underrated Escobar has been. He is one of the most underrated players in the major league.

Sure, we did take 3 out of 4 games against the Indians, but this offense still isn't good. I think that was more of facing Cleveland's atrocious bullpen... though Santiago does look cooked out there...

I thought Garver's baserunning gaffe was going to end up harmless, but it actually turned out to be much worse than I thought. I thought Molitor was supposed to be a good coach to teach baserunning, but this team has been awful at getting out at 3rd/home, stealing bases, and knowing when to advance.

When he didn't score, I was like, 'how is that possible?' and then I see the replay and he's going back to tag up??  You learn in Little League how to judge a fly ball like that one to center.  Brutal.

I'll chalk the two nice defensive plays up to bad baseball luck but the score should be 2-0 right now and that's all on Garver.

I’d be more inclined to agree if not for our track record with situational hitting.

I know some were unhappy with the MoY in the latter game.... but not burning the pen was the right decision, imo.

Great open, guy whose name rhymes with cake....

as is often the case, he needed the exact same number of outs from the bullpen anyway, only now with 2 on, none out.

I dunno about Dozier's ground ball, Santiago just had to stick his glove out at the right time. That play can be a crapshoot but it's still another bad RISP PA for Dozier.

I agree their situational hitting is pretty abysmal but I don't think this is a good example of it. The Sox made some nice plays and happened to be standing in the right place to prevent runs.

I could give you (begrudgingly) that lamarre’s ground out was a case of right place right time, but dozier’s was a fairly benign groundout back to the pitcher. It didn’t take some Herculean effort or top 5web gem to make the play. Again, I contend that if you are a major league hitter, in the second inning of a game, the defense is conceding a run, you need to hit a sac fly or hit it to the right side of the infield. It’s happens a ton with this team. And throw on top of that the base running gaffe, and that’s not very good Baseball IMO

Inexcusable baserunning by Garver. He can hit okay but all other facests of his game seem to be lacking.

He’s going to need to hit more than ok with his defense and apparent baseurnning

Not really. The Sox are just getting crazy lucky right now. They lucked into two outs, both of which should have scored runs.

Not an expert at all, but I don't remember a team that had a good season based on luck.

He can hit okay and he has not hit okay at all. His hitting has been bad, catching has been bad, base running has been bad.

Sano has contributed a 3 called strikeout with 2 runners on and a GIDP. I think Sano needs to be away from baseball. He is not playing baseball instead he lets the baseball play him.

Odorizzi really needs to improve his approach when he gets ahead in the count. There's been 4-5 times tonight he's been up 0-2 or 1-2 and then doesn't even come close to the strike zone until the count is full.
