The Twins lineup has potential when everyone is healthy. Clearly, though, they can't compete without a full lineup. This offense is putrid.

I wish there were a way to get rid of that odor . . . .

It's like the Twins during their losing streaks this year. You have to watch multiple times if you want to see all the moving parts that make it so disturbing.

God bless Irving Berlin, but possibly the worst upshot of 9/11/2001 is having to endure that song every Sunday at every ballpark.

Haha I’m amazed at all the folks who hate that so much. It’s done like what, a dozen or so times a year at most parks. Not a huge inconvenience, like say being drafted into the military or something haha

The internet is a marvelous thing.

I literally googled "snail fest gif".

There were hundreds.

One of my working theories about managing is, I don't feel like guys who were naturally good baseball players--and Molitor was very, very naturally good at baseball--make good managers.

Things that they take for granted, because they always came easy to them, get lost in the shuffle. How to run the bases, where to throw the ball, when to look for a pitch, when to shift more toward the hole at SS. Those kinds of things, that seem so blatantly obvious to him...he doesn't feel like that's something that he needs to manage. Or teach.

Just one of my theories. It applies to all walks of life, BTW. I had commanders who were kind of the same way. They were natural leaders their entire life, but made poor commanders, because they just assumed everybody already had the knowledge and skills they did.

I've always shared this theory.

I would say yes and no.

In theory I agree. It certainly can be more difficult to help an individual with something you find extremely easy. That said, I'm not sure how much is Molitor taking little things for granted because they came easy to him, and how much of it is him working from an assumed knowledge base that maybe doesn't exist for some of the players. I don't think it's unfair of Molitor to assume that all these guys have a strong understanding of all the little things listed. That doesn't mean he has no responsibility to reinforce some of those concepts in given situations but things like getting a lead at 2B w/o getting picked off, learning to differentiate between a lefty going home vs. 1B, throwing to the cutoff man/correct base, ect. are all hammered out in the minors if not well before then.

Maybe it's as simple as the players not being reminded about situational awareness, but given how shocking some of the mental mistakes are I have to think the issue runs deeper than the major league manager not preparing them.

Hey Van, you still around? I got some pickup lines you can use:

"Nice shirt. Can I talk you out of it?"

"Kiss me if I'm wrong, but dinosaurs still exist, right?"

"Are you a parking ticket? Cuz you got fine written all over you."

No charge, thank me later.
