Time to shuffle the deck

It's basically a given that Buxton will miss 15+ games per year with injury/migraine issues IMO. The way he plays makes it inevitable. They should have upgraded the 4th OF spot with a RH bat that can play center. I've been advocating for Rajai Davis for a while.

it didn't have to be a CFer...Kepler can slide over for 10 days.

But Grossman/LaMarre is pretty bad.

Feeling that they are not even a contender and it's therefore OK to burn a roster spot on a rule 5 guy is ridiculous.

This might be of interest:

Rob Antony was asked about Luke Bard yesterday, and Antony said he thought that the Angels as a contending team couldn't afford to waste a roster spot on a Rule 5 guy who wasn't contributing.

Yes, if that's why they are carrying him, then indeed it's ridiculous.

I don't personally believe that is why they are carrying him.

He's 27 years old. My guess is they think he can contribute now, and there is a disconnect between how they feel about him, and how Molitor feels about him.

It would seem that Molitor’s feelings more closely align with Kinley’s results.

They are carrying him because they feel he has a chance to be a good to very good starter someday. Nothing to do with this year.

Kinley?

He's started 3 games of the 197 that he's appeared in over his pro baseball career, and none since 2015.

I don't imagine they have any thoughts of him ever starting a game.

His ERA is now 21.60. He can't contribute now, and if they think he can, they should be fired immediately.

Making the manager side step a Rule 5 on (what should be ) a contending team is tough to defend.

With that said... It's a marathon... not a sprint.

I'm probably gonna keep typing that for awhile.  :)

Look folks, the Twins baseball season is souring quickly around pitching, the supposed strength of Falvey.

It's April, but the signs are clear.

Carrying a Rule 5, just like carrying Moya, ain't good enough when you are getting shelled.

And, we are getting shelled.

I believe he'll be gone, whether that's through DFA'ing him or DL'ing him. I would guess Duffey gets called up as the bullpen desperately needs reinforcements.

Lets hope it's via DFA. This experiment probably shouldn't have been started in the first place, let alone allowed to continue beyond ST.

Yep, if Odorizzi cost only a low minors shortstop, Kinley shouldn't be worth much more than that, unless they value Kinley more than Odorizzi.

Kinley's value is much, much lower than Odorizzi's. He could probably be had with a no-name prospect.

Palacios is a solid prospect, but he's a ways off (but now that I look at it, the Rays started him in AA. He's only had 500 PAs between High and Low A though).

You're right, Palacios is in AA now, and I'm glad to say he's doing better after a horrendous start.
