I'm not so sure.

Joe Mauer told me that Phil told him that he was really bothered by your reaction to his comment which he claims was taken out of context by the reporter.

As a result... he over compensated on the mound and it caused an injury to his shoulder.  :)

A "stress overreaction" was the medical term, IIRC.

I was looking at Hughes' velocity in GameDay and it looked a tick faster than what we saw last year (88-90mph last year, more like 90-91 this year).

But I assume he still looked pretty bad. What are everyone's thoughts?

Your assumption is correct. I'm more optimistic that Molitor had a quick hook before the game got out of hand.

I tend to not worry about the batting order very much.

However... My guess... With Sano out of the lineup we are right handed weak. Molitor is trying to balance the left and right handed hitters in the lineup so the Rays just can't bring in a left hander to face multiple left handers in a row. If Kepler moves to the 3 spot then he would have Mauer, Kepler, Rosario and Morrison all lefties 2, 3 ,4 and 5.

And I'm also guessing that since Dozier hits in the #1 spot always... Grossman became the preferred choice between Escobar and Adrianaza to move into the Right Handed Hole 3 spot.

There you go, putting the damper on a perfectly good chance to malign the manager. :)

Considering that most were feeling the game would be 12-0 by the time Molly brought the hook. He was amazing!

He did OK... I didn't see any pitches that were going to fool anyone but he kept the ball out of trouble the best he could.

Which is pretty damning when you're facing the might Tampa Bay Rays' offense.

Always a good idea to leave it up to Robbie Grossman.

Rosario! But yes, they should not have Grossman batting third. I guess they're trying to keep from being vulnerable against lefties but it seems like Escobar would be a way better choice.

If he can pitch like this all year we've got our next closer, folks.

If he can pitch like this all year, he'll be on the DL from overuse by June.

On an unrelated note, I've just been named co-chair of the Fun Committee at work.
