How about catching? Maybe at least one third of the time? Where did I say DH?

I wrote catcher, not sure why you think I didn't.

He does profile to catch at least 1/3 of the time. A typical 3 game series involves a day game after a night game and he catches that. The Twins also just haven't faced many lefties this year.

Now there is some alternative facts for you.

Ugh, so sick of this fake news and alternative facts B.S. It's easily the most annoying language trend in the last year. A phrase that allows you to dismiss someone without making a reasoned argument yourself. Where would Western Civilization be if Socrates' discussions always ended with "Nice alternative facts"?

I think I made a reasoned argument - he is striking out a lot, which is rarely the sign of a great hitter; he has no extra base hits, which means he isn't driving the ball; he's being helped by an unsustainable BABIP. When someone describes a "hot bat", I'd expect a lot more than that.

Which of those were alternative facts? (shudders)

Ignoring/minimalizing/discounting the hits/hot streak, (I like it when Mauer singles, too - I like all hits), short or temporary as it might or might not be. Period.

No reason to argue away the hits. You can if you like. Nobody said he was a great hitter. Just he was hot. If someone is 4-4 one day.... they had a hot bat. If a manager is smart enough to see it and use it while it is smoking, they win.

More annoying than woke, mindful, transparency, authentic, narrative......or pronouncing the silent t in often and adding an extra syllable in real-a-tor or ath-a-lete? (shudders)

Not arguing that they weren't hits. Arguing that those hits are not indication that similar outcomes will follow.

It seems to me you are ignoring/minimalizing/discounting the larger context. Not all hits are created equal.

With you on often but I think real-a-tor is kind of funny in a Modern Family kind of way. Woke and narrative aren't bad and have real meaning but I get you on authentic.

Not a great night for Mollie.  He seems to have some conceptions of his team that are not quite accurate right now.  I am not sure why he doesn't ride LaMarre's hot bat and his bullpen use has been curious at best.  On the other hand, the players seem to have some rust in the field.

I have to concur wholeheartedly with this.  How many times over the Molly years has this subject been bandied about, beaten to death, dragged out of its mildewing grave and thrashed yet again?

He doesn't ride the hot bat, or the hot arm because that's just what he does.  Or doesn't.  Pull the plug on a veteran pitcher who's running on fumes?  Nah.  Pull the plug on a youngster (if he even gets to play), before he gets a chance to work a situation out?  Yep.  Hit guys 3-4 in the lineup who are in season-long slumps?  You betcha.  My gosh, that's what the 7-8 spot is for, fer cryin' out loud.

Getting swept by a team that's already tanked its season?  Well, that's what happens, I guess.

Why do people keep typing that Tampa tanked? They unloaded an old, expensive player, and a pitcher, and one other player. They got some major league talent back, and expected three minor league pitchers to be available, including the top outcome prospect. They could not have forseen this many pricing injuries.

As for getting swept, the pitching management was bad, but these are the players that he was given. He can't hit for them.

Is Paul Molitor secretly disguising himself as "Kyle Gibson" and "Lance Lynn" and "Fernando Rodney" and "Zach Duke" and "Phil Hughes"?

No? Then I don't get why he's the focal point of our frustration.

Can't fix the players, but it is possible to fix really bad management decisions. There also isn't really much to say about bad performances, is there?

That said, when people do question the decisions of which players are here, you get about ten people saying the front office is great at their job.... So you may not want to go there anytime soon
