Article: Game Thread: Twins v Cleveland in Puerto Rico, 4/17 6:10pm CT

Indians haven’t played since Friday, and they don’t appear to be a tiny bit rusty.

We always rush to put a narrative on things; the Twins just didn't hit well against Kluber and our pitchers have given up a few homers. If the Twins would have won 10-1, we'd all be saying that they were freshly rested or something like that.

It's almost as if people forget that Kluber is one of the best pitchers of his generation.

Almost.

Haha not trying to push any narrative. Our team looked flat, theirs didn’t, that’s all.

Why are stories about how foreign players learned the game ostensibly more interesting than how American players learned it? My grandpa used to throw rolled up socks to me in his living room and I’d hit them with a big wooden spoon.

Half a dose of quaintness, half a dose of underlying bias how it's just "fascinating" that someone from a primitive culture could learn how to hit a ball as well as an American.

This would qualify as approximately the 18th most embarrassing place I've passed out.

If you count duplicates, it'd be in the 40s.

Long story short, walk-in closets are a good place to pass out. Secluded, spacious, and lots of clothes to turn into impromptu pillows.

But avoid using the shoes.

Shoes will leave nasty face imprints.

And they ain't very odor easy.

"I had a lot of rum and the friends of mine who hosted the party were horrified to find me the next morning passed out in the walk-in closet."

Yeah, walk-in closets are great. You can stretch out.

What KIND of rum?

There was a moment that was reached that night where specific details like that kinda went away.

I thought the Lindor homerun deserved the attention given. He is a young MLB star from Puerto Rico returning home. During the game Roberto Alomar, who Lindor idolized growing up, said that he loves watching him play. Really cool moment for him to hit a home run. And the crowd came to see that. I don’t begrudge any time spent on it, even though it came against the Twins.

Odirizzi shouldn’t have started the sixth. 90+ pitches, was sweating from the humidity to start the game, tiring. I was surprised to see him out there.

I think Morrison is going to be fine. He’s got a good sense of the strike zone, and he’s hit some balls hard at some people. He’s going to heat up just fine.

I found the game and the coverage great. Really nice to highlight all of the great Puerto Rican players, noting all the switch hitters, the catchers, etc. I don’t think I was really aware of which of those players were from Puerto Rico. And fantastic to see the players doing community service the day before.

Brian, great intro as always, but a quibble on the Joe M conversation. Since Morgan sent a letter to all Hall of Fame voters this year imploring them not to vote for Bonds and Clemens...I don’t think he is in favor of Pete Rose getting into the Hall.

Now, on to today’s game. Let’s hope Berrios is the focus of the coverage, and pitches well. The weakest player on the All-time Great Puerto Rican team was SP Javier Vazquez (who was still amazing). Could Berrios put up a Vazquez-like career?

Oh, and Bernie Williams got fat.
