Article: Game Thread: Twins v Astros, 4/9 @ 7:10pm CT

Rain on your wedding day would be bad luck. Rain on your wedding day after a week of sunshine filled days would be ironic.

In it's strictest sense, moving your wedding from Seattle to Arizona to avoid rain then having rain on your weeding day while the sun shined on the space needle would be ironic: a reversal of expectations.

Of course the most common modern usage of irony is to annoyingly call out people's misuse of irony when we all know what was meant. Therefore, perfect usage all around!

Oh, I got it and thought it was funny.     Let me be brief.  I am not great with grammar but I think there is a difference between  "Ironically, a wild Siberian Tiger will deliver the game ball to Justin Verlander"   and  "A wild Siberian Tiger will ironically deliver the game ball to Justin Verlander".    The former describes the situation as ironical and the latter indicates that the way the ball is delivered is ironical.   I might be wrong.  My wife uses the the word ironical to describe everything from coincidence to mildly interesting so I might be numb to the word.    A quick google search has a site that say there are two types, one that says there are three types and one that says there are 7 types.    Long ago I saw an explanation that the word is very soft in definition and my wife took it to heart.    I wasn't brief.   Is that ironical?    If its not I'm sorry but I am not going to apologize.

Yes, there is ... and his editor took care of that ... she didn't get to it until now because she was deep in the trenches fighting a spam war. Well, that and was off playing tennis, too.

Meh, and it's still not exactly correct, but it's at least a little clearer. If it's been said once, it's been said a hundred times ... Brian has issues with commas.

No reason they wouldn’t play IMO. They are probably regretting the decision to have this be a night game though.

If you look at the hourly forecasts, this evening isn't really any different than the afternoon. If the sun were out, though, it might feel warmer.

I kind of feel like one of the Joe's here but what would a wild Siberian tiger on your wedding day be?

Answer: One hell of a honeymoon.

Nice job RB as always and I am in concurrence with the Hildy assessment.  I watched him in spring training and something doesn't look right.  Last year, his breaking ball had more snap on it.  This year it seems to spin like a frisbee and just get smacked.  Also, I remember him changing arm angles every now and then, but I haven't seen that yet this year.

I have never worried about Tigers having ironic abilities at all.

On the other hand... With a Gorilla... I'm extremely careful to get everything correct.

It's the first place Minnesota Twins vs. the first place Houston Astro's...a clash of the Titans!

I see Lynn is coming in with an 11.25 ERA, Verlander at 2.31. I know, it's early in the season, but considering the weather I'm wondering if there will be an iceberg on the mound for the Twins tonight. That would make the game more of a Titanic crash than a clash of Titans.

Cue Dandy Don Meredith...

Maybe the first time we'll see a ball shatter into pieces due to the cold?

Anyone else excited about this Ohtani kid?

I really hope this kid is the real deal.

Could be a once in a lifetime talent and great for baseball.

(Since this is a game thread, I sort of assume there's not really an off-topic subject when it comes to baseball)

So far... I had the foresight to draft him in the 2nd round of my Fantasy Draft. I was able to ignore the noise of a bad spring training and made the selection.

As of April 9th, 2018... I'm a genius.

As someone who went through the same educational system as Alanis Morristte (Ottawa, Ontario, Canada), and having suffered slings and arrows for her incomprehension of "irony", might I suggest "Strategically"?
