Cody William Stashak is from Mays Landing NJ and attended St. John's University where he was drafted by the Twins in the 13th round of the 2015 draft. Upon being drafted Cody found himself pitching at E-town where he completed his first professional year. In ten starts Cody managed a 3.83 ERA over 44.2 innings while striking out 10.7/0 and only walking 2.2/9.

His mature approach helped deliver him to full season ball in 2016. He found himself starting the year in Cedar Rapids where he pitched well over 105 innings earning a late season promotion to Ft. Myers.

2017 saw him continue at Ft. Myers where he managed 16 starts despite having three separate stints on the DL. His final DL stint was followed by a short rehab in the GCL, however upon his return to health the Twins sent him to Chattanooga where he finished the year in the bullpen.

Cody was married October 8th of this past year to his HS sweetheart Taylor. I know this as their wedding announcement is the fifth returned search result when searching for Cody on Google, ahead of even his Fangraphs page! That must have been one popular wedding, well done young man.

Here's Cody in extended spring training last summer:

Cody was assigned to Ft. Myers and saw his first action yesterday. He came in out of the pen for two innings starting in the 6th.

The 6th unfortunately did start well with a walk followed by a HR. He finished the inning with no other trouble and then only allowed a walk (and a balk) in the 7th.

On the night he did strike out three in two innings and the Miracle were victorious. Better things lie ahead surely.

I don't see that it's clear which players will line up for starts this year in Ft. Myers, Stashak may still get some. Ft. Myers can be tricky being the destination for the MLB vets getting rehab/warmup innings.

Cody's last two appearances have come in the first inning going three innings both times. Overall his permanent promotion to Chattanooga has been a success. In 12 appearances he has pitched 23 and 1/3 innings with a 2.70 ERA and striking out 11.6 per 9.

He's issued a few more free passes than in years past but he's also limiting balls put in play.

His ability to miss bats and his multi-inning profile may soon find him on the map of possible MLB bullpen options.

Cody struggled giving up two earned runs on four hits yesterday but overall he is putting together a strong season. He hasn't issued multiple walks in an outing since May 15th this despite the fact that he has become something of a multi inning reliever, working more than 3 outs in 12 of his last 15 appearances. Overall Cody is missing bats regularly sporting a 12.3 K/9 in AA.
