Wander Javier - 2018

The Minnesota Twins signed Javier to a $4 million bonus as part of the international free agent class of 2015, giving him the highest bonus in the history of the franchise, even surpassing Miguel Sano’s signing bonus when he signed.

Age: 19 (DOB: 12/29/98)
2017 Stats (Rookie): 180 PA, .299/.383/.471, 4 HR, 22 RBI
ETA: 2021
2017 TD Ranking: 6

Javier struggled early in his professional career, but has recovered to hit .301/.386/.497 with 6 HR in 50 games in his professional career in 2016 and 2017.    Considered to be an elite talent 3 years ago when he signed, Javier has not disappointed on the field.  So much so in October, Javier was named as Baseball America's second-best prospect in the 2017 Appalachian League.

There is work to be done with Wander, as there is with any 19 year old.  With a crowded field at shortstop, he may need to find a new position, depending on how things shake out.    There is reason for excitement in the 19 year old.

For twitter users, too bad.  Couldn't find Wander on the Twitterverse.

The videos are especially intriguing... I didn't realize how tall and lanky he is. It looks like he really gets the ball out quickly from his glove at SS.

I also wonder if that leg kick is going to stay as he continues to develop?

Looks like you won't have much to update us with this year ... except any news of recovery ... :(

Piggy backing this:

From the bad news division, Javier is out for the season due to surgery for a torn labrum in his shoulder.    The good news is it's his non-throwing shoulder, for those looking for a silver lining.

From the adopt a prospect POV, is there any more available?  Kind of wanted a hitter too

Check the list. See if anyone there you want. I haven't updated statuses as to what team they are currently on ... but ... still plenty available.
