My prediction for which FA pitcher the Twins pick up is....

As fans, we often rip on athletes for only being in school to play ball. And on Twins Daily, Pelfrey has taken a lot of grief for his performance. But let's take note of this statement from the article and give him props -- a 34-year-old who has made nearly $47MM per baseball-reference.com is going back to school to complete his degree.

"...Pelfrey, who will work with the team’s pitching staff, and assist with recruiting and day-to-day operations of the team while working to finish his degree at Wichita State."

'Twins remain in market for starting pitching
Twins chief baseball officer Derek Falvey appeared on MLB Network's "High Heat" with Chris Russo on Wednesday and reaffirmed the Twins' interest in adding starting pitching. Minnesota remains in the mix for Yu Darvish but also has interest in other starters such as Lance Lynn, Alex Cobb and Chris Tillman. Falvey didn't mention specific names but said the Twins remain likely to add a starter before pitchers and catchers report in roughly two weeks.

"We still have opportunity," Falvey said. "There are a number of players still on the board. We have a chance to add to our group before Spring Training."

Darvish isn't coming here. Originally I thought it would be because we wouldn't be able to offer him the years and/or money. Now I think it's because he doesn't want to come here and no amount of an offer will change that.

I think we pick up Lance Lynn.

It looks like it won’t be Darvish, but they should be trying to sign Arrieta, Lynn, or Cobb. Anything less than that is a failure imo. You have 4 options on the table and haven’t really invested in the free agent market as of yet (they signed Addison Reed but no one else) they have the capital to make a splash to improve the rotation. If they blow it and sign the likes of Chris Tillman, Wade Miley, or Jamie Garcia as a fan I would question their commitment to winning while we have the pieces to do so now.

Arrieta would be the worst one to sign. His numbers have been proggressively worse over the last 2 years and that trend will only continue. If the Twins miss on Darvish and can't trade for Archer I would just rather they rolled with the young guns in AAA

The fact that they're still on the hunt is good news!!

Duensing. Not because he would help the SP, but without him who are we all going to offer in a mid season trade for Mike Trout when Buxton runs into a wall in late June.

Duensing has been a punching bag in this site for years but he recently signed another contract for $7 million dollars - not too shabby!!!  I wonder if he'll be able to feed his family on that??!

It'll Tillman and only Tillman.

The first thing I did after hearing him mentioned as a possibility - I mean, aside from the upchuck - was ink him into the rotation.

He is a classic Twins signing. While the new regime talks more about making a splash than the old one did, they still only make tiny ripples.

This is what I fear. They have 4 better options on the table and they sign a pitcher who may not even be with the team by years end. Tillman is just as same as signing Jason Marquis, Kevin Correa, Mike Pelfrey, etc.

I can't believe how many free agents are still unsigned! Besides looking at starters I say start throwing some 1 year offers towards the Greg Hollands and Mike Moustakases of the world

I was intrigued until I saw he batted LH.

Bear in mind I did not intend for this to be a snarky post.

I really think that the familiarity + the price + lack of interest by other teams will make this the easiest option for the Twins.

Garcia is several floors down from the other pitchers discussed, but it is what it is.....
