Good for him...who doesn't love a Mudhen?  What even is a mudhen?  I gotta look that up.

Otherwise known as a "coot."  Often encountered in massive numbers when hunting ducks, much to the anger of the hunter.*

*so I'm told

Interesting, didn't he take a step back as manager in the Twins organization because he didn't want to manage outside of Florida? Nothing like being out of a job to make Toledo look tropical. Is Max Klinger also joining the Toledo staff?

Luckily we have people here like birdwatcher who can fill us in!

Well, gocgo and Vanimal, the Mudhen can't be found in your average bird book. It's a slang word. I think most birders think of the Common Gallinule as the dictionary word for it. Chief is listening to the wrong crowd about it being too coot for words. The American Coot flocks together in deeper water and acts quite boisterously. Like a raft of TD'ers calling for Ryan's scalp. Gallinules, on the other hand, congregate in very small loose groups, like a group of TD'ers who think Gardy is a good manager.

Common Gallinules hang around on the muddy edges of marshy ponds, digging up stuff and wallowing in the murky waters of life. Like TD'ers in general.

So Detroit is going to recreate Twins managerial excellence circa 2013?

Get after it boys!

Kind of, "Data be damned, we got some guys who really battle their tails off."

You go Gardy.

Man, am I glad Twins moved on to the 21st century in the last year and a half.

That could make a good theme for a Twitter handle or even, if I may say so, a Tigers forum!

Getting the band back together, are they?

If there was ever a doubt that there was an "old boy's club" in the Twins' franchise the new Tiger org clears that up.

6 division titles in 13 years.
I'm sure Detroit wouldn't mind that.

This time Gardy wasn't handed a ready-to-win team with only one viable challenger in the division.  Now he has the worst or 2nd worst team in the division and is hopelessly behind Cleveland and Minnesota in talent. Success will be measured in the quality of draft picks acquired--not wins!
