T-Wolves Regular Season Thread

It would be nice if they could have the Wiggins that plays without Butler be the same as when Butler is playing. But this has always been my argument for a staggered lineup. Wiggins and Butler shouldn't share the floor very much. And it is also one reason that I liked PJ Tucker (vs Jamal Crawford) as the 3rd wing. Crawford is great but they simply have too many ball/shot dominant players on the court.

Have I mentioned my feelings on Jeff Teague yet? Goodness gracious he is a stupid basketball player.

lol

14 pts on 50% shooting and 15 assists with 1 turnover

He isn't perfect but your hate on him is tiring. This is the Rubio situation all over again.

Derrick Rose's only place on this team is firmly behind Jones and Crawford and not taking one minute from them. The Wolves have had problems with depth though whenever one player in the rotation is injured so I wouldn't be totally against Rose. The problem is that he will be brought in to play. Not a fan of that.

Yeah, those numbers aren’t too shabby. But, I am beyond fed up with his unwillingness to shoot when he’s open beyond the arc, countless floaters from 20 feet away, and bonehead passes. This guy is straight shaqtin’ a fool.

I guess.  But he was a Bull and that seems to be all it takes with Thibs.

Yes, with Thibs, the Wolves may yet scale the great heights of his success with Chicago. Of course, Chicago got three valuable players from Thibs in exchange for two years of Jimmy Butler, so they will likely exceed their glory years with Thibs in a few years.

I always laugh at the TNT guys complaining about how slow the Wolves play and how that won't work in the playoffs. You would think someone tell them they're the #3 offensive rating team in the NBA and #6 in pure scoring.

I haven't heard them say one positive thing about the Wolves every time they've been featured for a game, and I don't know why.

That’s because our slow iso-heavy ball-control offense with our talent works against a lot of teams but it can’t keep up with the explosiveness of the true contenders. Especially with our inconsistent defense and total inability to guard or shoot the 3, or slow teams in transition.

Side note: Wiggins could become the worst contract in Minnesota history and his max deal hasn’t even kicked in yet. He got benched in crunch time tonight for Crawford of all people, and has been invisible on the court way too frequently. His shooting and passing is somehow getting worse. I don’t know how you salvage him but you have to find a way.

Teague is the least of the problems on the Wolves. He is doing almost exactly what he is being paid to do. He isn't perfect but I am quite satisfied with him.

#1 issue - Wiggins - This is becoming a disaster. He needs to figure out how to be a wingman to Butler's alpha role. He has incredible talent but he also has no clue what to do right now.

#2 issue - Dieng - they gave him a very big extension but then decided not to play him. This makes no sense at all. I think he is still very deserving of the extension and worth it but not if he only plays 12-15 min/game. His production per 36 minutes is actually slightly better this season but he is getting 1/2 of the minutes.

Note - I have always been a Bjelica fan and he is cutting into Dieng's minutes the most. 44% from 3 this season

No team has a playing style that will compete with Houston or Golden State this season, so that shouldn't be who everyone else is compared to.

Does Wiggins really lead the league in minutes the last two years, which coincide with his drop-off? There’s got to be a relationship. Typically, when a younger player struggles, the strategy is to reduce his playing time and try to put him in situations where he’ll have success, then build off that. Coach Shortbench, however, would never do that, because he seems to have only two strategies, “More” and “Harder,” which do not include limiting players to situations where they can maximize their success.
