You missed the point. I don't rag on joe even remotely as much as others do. He's having a decent year and has been a great first basemen. But two days off in 5 days when we're in a playoff race, forcing someone playing his 4th ever MLB game to play a position he isn't great at....not sitting well with me. Unless that was all PM's doing....but still, I think he could ask into the lineup, can't he? Especially against an absolute STUD like Derek holland!

I get the point and I don't disagree about the second day in five bit. However, there really hasn't been a backup 1B on the roster much in the last month or so. Plus, he may have asked to be put in but Molitor sat him anyway. We don't know that that didn't happen. Molitor could be using the soft tossing lefty matchup to get Garver some playing time and killing two birds with one stone.

Joe has played in 107 of the 127 games this season. That's quite a few for a guy that should be platooned more.

Their playoff odds were about 35% per baseball prospectus. I'll 6 to 1 to anyone that wants to bet that this team makes the playoffs.

This is not a team worthy of playoff baseball.

Thanks for giving up on them.

moderator hat on:

Discussions about a player playing, or not playing, in today's game, are relevant and appropriate in a game thread.

Extended rancorous debates about salary aren't.

Rancorous? We barely know you

I like the way you think, but sadly it is probably not a viable option.

I propose we score us some runs!

Do i hear a second?

Even if they did take their ball and go home, the ump would just ask the ball boy for another and the game would go on anyway.

So your plan is a better one.

If Garver in his 20s runs like Mauer in his 30s, what's Garver gonna be like late in his career?

/ yeah, that's a straight line - go for it

This seems like a trick question. On his hands?
