I was all ready to rip him on this, but on the replay you could see he had no chance from his shifted position toward 2nd base.

Fair enough. Someone has to cover 1B on that play though. Mauer and Mejia both went for the ball. Somebody messed up.

Charles City Iowa... You can see the World First Tractor.... this isn't the 2nd... it's the first.

Waverly, Iowa... You can see a Big Red Cocoa Mug... I don't believe their is any cocoa or coffee in the mug.

Brandon, Iowa... You can see a large frying pan... It weighs half a ton and can hold 44 dozen eggs.

Marion, Iowa... You can see a Corn Sculpture in a Corn Field... Need I say more.

New London Missouri... You can see a Giant Mark Twain.... which is much bigger than a regular sized Mark Twain.

Foristell Missouri... You can see a Giant Muffler Man... I'm not sure what a Muffler Man is... but this one is Giant.

Well, thanks for those thrilling sites....we may not make it back home, with all of that to see on the return trip.

Trip down is gonna be fast. I'll try to take pics at your recommended sites to see!!!!

I don't know what play was called but either Mauer should have stayed home or Dozier shouldn't have been shifted because he has to cover. I'm thinking it's on Dozier because he was headed toward first like... oops I should have been over there.

To my knowledge... there is no bunt coverage that leaves first uncovered.

I love Smalley. Just throw it low and away and he'll chase. Does he not think Mejia is trying to do that? If Mejia had that kind of command he wouldn't have the numbers he has.

Yeah, but Smalley mostly has been critical of pitch selection, like throwing that third curve in a row after 0 - 2. Smalley commented that the count called for something different, like a fastball up and in. Maybe then go for the curve, but not three in a row.

There were two outs. Why would they be in bunt coverage?

i think its probable that even if Joe stays put the guy is safe, but yeah. Someone needed to cover.no one expected a bunt. Edited by jimmer

Sort of a sad day here in Tucson.  We have something called the "Tanque Verde Swap Meet" that is open every weekend, a sort of giant ongoing yard sale.  There's even been a small circus there for years, made up mostly of part time, semi-amateur locals.  They've had to shut down one of the main acts, the "human cannonball."  The guy who got shot out of the cannon had reached the age where he just wasn't able to do it anymore, and they can't find a replacement.

...

...

Seems it's hard to find a man of that caliber.
