Don't know if this deserves it's own thread, so I'll just put it here:

Vargas optioned to AAA, Adrianza activated

So we still have 13 pitchers. On the horizon:

Haley set to make a rehab start in AAA today (Tuesday)

At this point the Twins can keep Haley down on rehab until August 3.  I suspect they will.  What they do at that point is anyone's guess.  I suppose it might depend on if Colon (and Ervin and Santiago for that matter) is still around.  I presume they are stretching him out to make some starts.

No, Haley's rehab started June 26 (to a rookie league team). So they have to activate him by July 25th (or put him back on the DL, I suppose, but I think he needs to be back by mid-August anyway to meet the 90 days active requirement to remove Rule 5 restrictions before next season. It would kinda suck if we couldn't even option him next spring...).

Oh, yeah, forgot about rookie ball.  That will make it interesting.  He could theoretically start next Tuesday in LA.  He threw 84 pitches last night.  Of course, as of now, Colon has that start.  I don't know what else the Twins might do.  It wouldn't make sense to send Mejia down.  Maybe if Gibson has another clunker Saturday, Haley takes his spot.  The Twins have a couple off days yet this month, so someone figures to get skipped.  Maybe they will just plunk Haley in the long relief role and send out Pressly.

I've been saying for awhile now that sooner or later Matt Belisle is not going to survive a roster move.  I still feel that way.  Haley is coming back.  Hector is coming back.  Someone will have to go.  One would assume that Gee will eventually get a look to.

My guess would be when Haley comes back:

65% Pressly optioned

28% Breslow DFA

5% Belisle DFA

2% other

Absolutely. And take your MN-Twins pitcher checkbox with you...

1. Has pulse?

2. Pitching arm attached to torso?

3. If no to 2, still has other arm?

4. If no to all above, sign anyway.

5. and place in the AAA DL.
