Brief summary of career:

2012-Reliever

ETown 6 games, 7.2 innings 0 runs, 16 K's

Beloit 11 games, 11 innings, 2 runs, 15 K's Combined ERA 1.45 and WHIP .804

Having exploded onto the scene with ridiculous success he was moved up to High A

2013-Starter

FM 9 games, 57.1 innings, 7.5 K/9, 1.41 ERA

Showing domination of another level quickly, he was promoted again.

NB 16 games, 92.2 Innings, 6.2 K/9, 6.31 ERA Combined 1.18 WHIP

2014-Mostly Starter

Turned into a mess with two stints on the DL. Apr 27th he went down injured and did not return until June 1st. When he was hurt again on July 25th, hecame back Aug 11th in the GCL first and had to work his way back up to AA. He had 2 games in the GCL, 11 in FM and 7 in NB. All these games were as a starter except 3 relief appearances in New Britain.

Combined Stats: 90.1 Innings, 5.48 ERA, 6.3 K/9, 1.35 WHIP.

2015-21 of 23 games started

Chattanooga all year

118.1 innings, 3.80 ERA, 92 K's, 7 K/9, 1.403 WHIP

2016-Starter in AA, Reliever in AAA

Baxendale probably could have been up with Rochester quicker but he spent another stint on the DL in April.

Chattanooga: 14 GS, 81 innings

Rochester: 23 Games, 35 innings as a reliever

Combined: 2.79 ERA, 99 K's, 7.7 K/9 and a 1.155 WHIP

This year in Rochester, Baxendale has a solid 1.418 WHIP and 3.86 ERA. He has struck out 22 in 30.1 innings for a 6.5 K/9 in 17 appearances. While these numbers are not exploding off the page, we are still staring at our current bullpen. If Baxendale could put everything in order, there is a chance we will get to see him this year at the MLB level.

Baxendale has pitched 54.1 innings for AAA Rochester and has a 2.98 ERA. He has appeared in 29 games, 25 of those in relief but when he has started, they have given him a maximum of 3 innings so really he has been a reliever all year. Opposing tams are hitting .262 against him and a and he has a 1.27 WHIP. He has a 6.6 K/9 and a 2.5 W/9. He keeps the ball in the yard having allowed just 2 HRs this year and he has a career HR/9 of .6. Despite what look like solid AAA numbers, Baxendale has been sent to Chattanooga for Rochesters playoff push.

What with the 'awesome' pitching we had last year, Baxendale should have been given a call up. In half a decade he had done pretty well, highlighted by a very good year last year. At this point it seems apparent that the Twins are not going to use him on the MLB roster in any capacity.

I suspect he's praying he'll be taken by another team in the Rule V draft in December.

Baxendale finished his season pitching 9/2 and 9/9 for AA Chattanooga. He tossed 4.2 innings and 3.0 innings respectively allowing no runs. He struck out six, walked one and gave up 5 hits. I expect that he will be back at AAA next year if not lost to the rule V draft. In either case I expect him to make his MLB debut in 2018 for somebody.
