Why is it that we never buzz guys inside and back them off the plate after they hit the first home run? Instead we give them another batting practice pitch right down the middle.

Because we have terrible pitchers?

This has all the makings of a lost weekend.

Agreed.

The Twins' hefty negative run differential and the lack of either pitcher from their  two man rotation were spoilers for this series' negative outcome, but there's still the balancing fact that Twins have played nearly half a season of relevant baseball following a year in which they lost 103 games.

The last couple of weeks this team has reminded me of last year: coming out onto the field asking "How are we going to lose today?" They just don't seem to have the confidence and swagger they had earlier in the year that they can get a lead, hold a lead, or overcome a deficit.

Is there a clubhouse leader who can somehow change the negative thinking? Was there such a person earlier when we seemed to be able to overcome adversity and bounce back for a come-from-behind win or a big win to stop a losing streak?

The big problem lately has been falling behind early. Opponent has scored first far too often recently.

The bullpen is still cause for heartburn, but the non-Santana/Berrios starting pitching resembling their Golden Age of Twins AAAA Pitching circa 2012-2014 is the more vexing problem now.

Dang, no one's happy anymore. Even my wife picks up on my dark mood. "Twins losing?" "Again."

It's tough because we've done acceptably well all year, it's easy to forget how horrendously bad pretty much this same roster was last season.

Better late than never, but three baserunners in six innings vs Bauer was a little disappointing. The Kepler play at the plate looms larger than ever now.

Saved the challenge, though. They add up over the course of a season. Hmm, what's that? They can't be saved, like in a bank?

Never mind, then.
