"We need to love our veterans and we need better mental health care."

 

Maybe don't vote for the party that cuts mental health spending, and refuses to increase spending on veteran's health? Those same people are literally voting the other way.

You would think with all the money we pour into the military we could spend a little less of it on the industrial complex and a little more in helping our soldiers with PTSD.  Not saying htis is the cause, but if we're going to point to mental health (rarely accurate IMO) after these shootings, the least we could do is focus on the specific disorder that seems to be present and how we could help it.

 

In this case, why can't we get bi-partisan support for thorough care for our veterans who have suffered from PTSD?  That seems...easy?  Right?

Shooting in Chicago ... at a hospital. Started as a 'domestic dispute' just outside the entrance and then the gunman ran into the hospital. Four dead, including the gunman. The woman killed ... shot 6 times ... was set to marry this guy in October but called off the wedding in September. She was a doctor.

 

This happened about a mile from where I live. The entire neighborhood was pretty much on lockdown, although I wasn't here when it happened.

I live in Chicago, and while I’m not exactly desensitized to gun violence, I also sort Of expect it. All the schools in the area went on automatic lockdown, police were everywhere. They hold massive training sessions around McCormick Place every so often, so it got put to use immediately. It makes me sad there is a need to be so prepared but glad they are. :/

Yeah....thats horsecrap. I might buy it if I had heard more from those clowns during the Castille case. Thesilence was deafening for that gun owner.

The NRA has made it pretty clear that lobbying for the rights of black people to own guns only comes into play long after said black person is dead.

This "official" story is the foulest smelling load of BS I've ever read:

 

 

"ST. LOUIS (AP) — A male St. Louis police officer was charged Friday with involuntary manslaughter in the shooting death of a female officer during what was described as a deadly game with a revolver.

 

Circuit Attorney Kim Gardner announced the charge against Nathaniel Hendren, 29, in the death of 24-year-old Katlyn Alix, as they alleged played a game in which a revolver's cylinder was emptied, one bullet put back and the two colleagues taking turns pointing at each other and pulling the trigger.

 

Alix was with two male officers at an apartment when she was killed just before 1 a.m. Thursday . A probable cause statement from police, provided by Gardner's office, offered a chilling account of the dangerous game that led to her death.

 

The probable cause statement said Alix and Hendren were playing with guns when Hendren produced a revolver.

 

"The defendant emptied the cylinder of the revolver and then put one cartridge back into the cylinder," the statement said. He allegedly spun the cylinder, pointed the gun away and pulled the trigger.

 

The gun did not fire. The statement said Alix took the gun, pointed it at Hendren and pulled the trigger. Again, it didn't fire.

 

Hendren "took the gun back and pointed it at the victim (and) pulled the trigger causing the gun to discharge," the statement said. "The victim was struck in the chest."

 

The other male officer told investigators he warned Hendren and Alix not to play with guns and reminded them they were police officers. He was about to leave when he heard the fatal shot, the statement said.

 

The male officers drove Alix to a hospital where she died. Hendren also is charged with armed criminal action.

 

The two men were on-duty at the time of the shooting. Police Chief John Hayden has declined to answer questions about why the officers had gathered at the apartment, which was home to one of the men.

 

St. Louis police said the charges were the result of a promise Hayden made to Alix's family to conduct a "thorough and competent investigation."

 

Alix, a military veteran who was married, was not working but met the men at the apartment.

 

Police immediately launched an internal investigation and placed both officers on paid leave. Gardner also began her own investigation on Thursday and enlisted the Missouri State Highway Patrol to conduct it.

 

Alix was a patrol officer who had graduated from the St. Louis Police Academy in January 2017."

I don't think any of the above story really happened. As a matter of fact, I don't even find it possible. Too many things make no sense whatsoever.

 

The two male cops are on duty, she's not. So, this wasn't some drunken stupidity moment.

 

It's 1am, and married female cop is at on duty male cop's house.

 

Russian roulette is played by pointing the gun at yourself, not someone else.

 

Russian roulette is also played by re-spinning the cylinder between trigger pulls. Failure to re-spin changes it from a stupid, potentially lethal game, to a 100% guaranteed fire.

 

Not only did all 3 officers take whatever weapons training they were required as police officers, both initially and continuing, but the female officer that was shot was a military veteran.

These are people who understand fully the consequences of pointing a loaded weapon at something and pulling the trigger.

 

They expect people to believe that these highly trained police officers just decided one night, while on duty, to playfully take turns shooting at each other?

The more that comes out on this "Russian roulette" police shooting, the more fishy it is to me.

The suspect has a pretty severe black eye in his booking photo. The official story is that he did it to himself by head butting the rear window of a police cruiser.

 

I'm struggling to understand the physics of how you severely bruise the UNDERSIDE of your eye by head butting a window.

 

FWIW, the lawyer representing the family of the victim isn't buying any of this either. Good. I hope they get to the bottom of it.

One of the unfortunate circumstance in many states is that possession of child pornography is punished much harsher than acts of rape/molest of children themselves.  It's often because each image is charged as a separate crime, and each sentence must be served consecutively.

And for double yuck, I wonder if I’m distantly related to him. My great-grandmother’s name was Piche and we came from Quebec, where the family settled in the 17th century. There’s a good chance I’m very distantly related to that guy.
