I fully expect Minnehaha Academy to repeat as Class AA champs. They have a ridiculous amount of talent for a small school and are very well coached.

Coaches that I have talked to who played Waconia say they are legit but SC Tech was undefeated too. Both 1 & 2 in the QRF rankings. I wouldn't write off St Thomas either. They play in a meat-grinder conference. Like Sibley last year, coming out of the Metro East where it is absolute dogfight, your record doesn't always reflect your overall abilities. We (Holy Angels) had allowed just 3 runs per game (behind just three other schools in AAA -- Waconia, Delano & Mahadomdi) and STA buried us.

I had a couple of days off this week so I went to the Burnsville-Lakeville North game on Thursday to see Sam Carlson in person. Yeah, didn't go well for him...I can see how he could have been tired lately with all of the draft craziness, graduating, etc. Either that or he was nervous because he hit the first batter of the game and threw two wild pitches in the first inning, one of which bounced about five feet in front of the plate. Nice physique and delivery though, I can see why he was drafted. There was an older lady sitting next to me and when the Lakeville North pitcher came out after pitching six shutout innings she said, "That's my grandson!" And I said, "Oh congratulations, he pitched really well today." And then she said, "No not him, the one coming into the game now."  :) I also heard several people commenting on how they hadn't been to CHS Field before and how nice it is. I concur.

I had never been to the Mini Met in Jordan either so I went there on Friday for the Parkers Prairie-Red Rock Central/Westbrook/Walnut Grove game and that is a really fun ballpark. A kid from Parkers Prairie pitched a complete game 4 hitter and also had a home run and four RBI. Considering some of the pitching performances we've seen this year from the Twins I was about to go and ask him if he could help us out with some of these doubleheaders...

My son was set to be the Varsity SS for Hastings, then tore his labrum in our scrimmage against Cannon Falls.  At any rate, I've seen Woodbury and St. Thomas both play.  They are both solid teams, I don't know if either has enough pitching to win it.  Woodbury is better with the bats than I expected, they made our pitchers work the count and didn't strike out much.
