Belisle pitched yesterday. Why in heaven's name do you just let him blow a game like that?

There is no defending Molitor here. Much like when he had two fresh arms brought up SPECIFICALLY because he had a spent pen, and then let the spent pen **** away a 6 run lead.

He doesn't have good options, agreed. That's not his fault, but it makes it even more critical he uses what he has wisely.

Today was not wise.

Today and that previous game are both very defensible considering the options he has to work with.

I don't blame Molitor for any of this. In fact, I give him great credit for managing this terrible bullpen as well as he has all season. The moves are going to blow up on occasion because the pitchers are so bad.

Breslow's thought cloud........ "Damn, there goes my ERA now, too. I knew I shouldn't have intentionally walked Hundley. What was Molitor thinking! I could have gotten him out!"

Rube chat is dead! Good bye to that abomination of its former self

Welcome aboard! You chose a hell of a game to join this site.

Can you imagine the reaction from other teams/fans when the Twins trot out a guy with a ERA above 8 to protect a one-run lead in the 7th or 8th inning?

They have to be equal parts baffled and giddy.

A sigh of'relief'...

Strategery question: you have a lineup with no lefties. You have a reliever that allows a opposing BA of .280 in the bullpen. Do you A) never even get him up off of the bench, or B) bring him in to face nothing but right handed batters?

I think you do what you can to get through the game and save your only three competent relievers for another game.
