ANNND Welcome Back! To Minnesota Twins Whine Line on a Sunday. How neat was that game yesterday?! The International Space Station captured Vargas' HR leaving our atmosphere yesterday! And Berrios did his best Catch Me If You Can impression to get the win.

Today is Nik Turley day! Maybe you're like me and haven't heard of this guy until a week or so ago. We did some digging to learn more about him to prepare you for today... And we discovered he has a sharp looking beard who throws a bender! That's about it... Before we get into more debauchery, let's talk weather and lineups.

Bring your jackets to the stadium again, because it's a chilly one. 63 degrees at first pitch, and a GNARLY WNW wind of 20 MPH. Gusts up to 28 MPH!

Minnesota Twins (32-26):

P - Nik Turley - We all want to love you Nik, let's start today!

San Francisco Giants (25-39):

P- Matt Cain - Coming off a 5 IP 5 ER loss to the Brewers!

Game threads are supposed to have the same feeling as sitting in the nosebleeds shooting the breeze. Which got us wondering.... What would we be talking about at AT&T Park right now?

Road Trips: The Twins are nearing the finish line on their 11 day road trip. Living out of a suitcase is never fun... And hotel beds have to start getting uncomfortable after a while. Wouldn't people start getting on your nerves after being away from home that long?

Fortune Cookies: FUN FACT! Fortune cookies were invented in San Francisco. I'm not sure who creates the generic sayings and predictions inside the cookie. I've been promised wealth and good fortune, but my number is never called for the Powerball...

Alcatraz: FUN FACT! This was the only federal prison to offer hot water showers in order to prevent prisoners from acclimating to the cold San Francisco Bay. There's also the mysterious escape story from 1962 with the Anglin brothers and Frank Morris. Do you think their makeshift boat made it across the bay?

Streaks and Debuts: Jason Castro of all people is entering the game with an 11 game hit streak. Keep it up! And Nik Turley gets his first chance to pitch underneath the big lights after 10 years in the minors. This has to be right up there on his list of scariest firsts in his life. We'll be rooting for you today Turley!

Summer trips: We're getting into the meat-grinder of summer trips and activities. Maybe you have that "cabin" up north to get away from the hustle and bustle. Maybe you're planning a tropical get away. I'm leaving for Cancun next week, and can't wait!! Do you have any trips planned soon?

Let's get a win Twins!

Rubechat appears to be dead, but someone told me there were forums over here.  I had no idea.  I've read through most everything this morning on the main page, and I love it already.  Much more respectable over here.  I look forward to talking with people who actually LIKE the Twins.  It'll be a nice change of pace.

I like the matchup for Turley today.  This Giants team is really crummy, and there aren't a lot of boomers in the lineup.  Hopefully they can get 5 or 6 good innings out of Nik and take this one.  I'd like to see one of these spot starters earn a few opportunities.  Turley is such a cool story, that it would be great if he can get it done.

Is it bad that I want to believe the Anglin brothers and Frank Morris made it to land and found a way to get to Mexico?

That story has a better ring to it than succumbing to the cold San Francisco Bay water...

Welcome. If you have anything intelligent to add, well, we could use that here. If you have anything fun to add, that is welcome as well. Maybe more so.

San Fran is on a bad run, but these are MLB hitters. Turley is going to have to pitch well to get through this. I'm optimistic.

Go Nik!

I remember watching some documentary on that as a kid... no question the boat didn't make it.  The real question is how far they got before they had to swim, and if they could do so.

GREAT opening for this game and to answer those questions you asked: yes,yes and no and I appreciate you caring about question #3   ;)      ;)     ;)

Good luck today Mr.Turley, as I want to see your name often, as it reminds me of one of my favorite foods at first glance!!!

Especially with Nik as your first name.

Today is potentially magic #100 day, which means scoreboard watching becomes slightly more legit.  With that I give you this tip if you have Direct TV but don't have the MLB package.  Channel 720.  Even better when games are on at odd times and they only split it down to 4 or less screens.

Yankees after 6 first inning runs on the Orioles yesterday they get 5 today.  I prefer the bullpen being the flaw.  Of course Baltimore bullpen is probably worse then ours too.  Hopefully ESPN still has a job for Buck Showalter

It was fun to watch Pence look lost yesterday on the breaking ball. Pence is a good hitter, and maybe he's in a funk, but it feels good to give credit for Berrios for exploiting that. He made him look foolish. Let's hope Pence stays as helpless against Turley's breaking stuff.

Clever word play recognition skills indeed.

On vacation in Florida with the family. Was hoping to somehow catch the game as the clouds are gathering for the typical Florida afternoon thunderstorm. No luck finding the game (not surprised), so I am watching Naked and Afraid. They are naked and I am afraid. Who signs up for this?
