The link has the video although it's in French. The reporter, I thought, did a great job staying professional while the player acted like an ass.

From the article - “If it had not been live on air, I would have punched him,” Thomas told the French version of Huffington Post, describing the incident as “frankly unpleasant.”

“These situations are trivialized and should not be,” she added.

  • I'd like to know the country where that kind of behavior is acceptable.
  • I'd like to know the country where tennis is so huge that unacceptable behavior is overlooked.

It would have been acceptable in this country up until about 25 years ago.

For example, there is a very famous photo of a returning WW2 doughboy kissing a young girl in a parade. If you do a Google search for the photos preceding and succeeding that photo, you'll see that the girl was actually trying to reject his kiss.

Very happy to see that this type of crap is no longer socially accepted.

Right.  Not the first time he's done something like this.  No one should be so comfortable/familiar with repeated, and overtly refused, acts of "intimacy."

You've seen him before? Or he just comes across as simultaneously entitled and needy?

I've never seen this guy before (not a tennis fan, in particular).  So the latter.  No way someone behaves that way without a well-worn path of similar deeds.

Yup. Unfortunately, there are a large number of people who wouldn't find anything wrong with this, either. The kisses are one thing, but his restraint of her on top of that? No. On camera or not she should have defended herself and would have been in her rights to do so. Pseudo is right ... this isn't the first time someone like this has done something like this and probably thinks there was no wrong in it, whether or not it's because he's a professional athlete or someone else. And probably got away with it in the past instilling in him a sense of it being okay. Good for the French Open to oust him.

And the reference above to the WWII photo, I recently read an article on that incident and the woman in the photo stated it was not a welcome advance and that he was very strong and she was unable to pull away.

Well, change Tennis to any other sport and it's basically happens everywhere. It wasn't that long ago that Joe Nameth tried to kiss Suzy Kolber on MNF. Fans have forgiven extremely boorish behavior - Ray Rice fans defended him in Baltimore for beating up a woman. Viking fans have defended AP. TWolves fans have defended KG's extremely harsh bullying of others. This was just on video.

Richie Incognito doesn't say hi. (And, ****, he's another example. Look at all the people who have given him a pass because he's a decent guard).

He did it multiple times even though she was clearly uncomfortable after the first time he did it, ugh. I don't think the country has anything to do with it, I've traveled to different parts of the world and have found that body language speaks pretty clearly no matter where you are.
