Article: Game Thread: Twins v Astros, 5/29 @ 1:10pm CT

Have umpires been told there no longer allowed to throw guys out for arguing balls and strikes.  4 years ago even that little disagreement would have been dealt with harshly by a lot of umpires.

I think a message was given to the umps and if they must be more tolerant of questioning players, then the players will squawk more.

Erv's last game went 2:26, so there is hope that I'll see most of it.

I'm curious...why set a 3 hour limit to the game u r at???????

What happens after 3 hours? Bedtime? Ride turns into a pumpkin? Have to be home by Supper?

Just curious......

A couple questions:  Where did Wheeler come from?  Isn't that strange to call up a pitcher ahead of the 8 or so currently in Rochester? and must room now be made on the 40-man?

First off... Welcome to TwinsDaily.

To answer your questions:

1. Loyola Marymount 8th round pick in 2011.

2. He was probably the best combination of reasonable ability and hadn't thrown recently so he could be used immediately. Either that or they are grabbing names out of a hat.

3. I believe we had an open 40 man spot after Wilk was DFA'd.

Time for my regular Rosario complaint.  Harmlessly hits a 1st pitch slider from a guy making his second start of the year, with known control issues.  The guy has consistently shown an inability to play smart baseball.  Don't give me the Tony O & Kirby swung at bad pitches argument.  They routinely hit 50+ points higher than Eddie, and produced runs.  I have no idea if they're ready or not, but at this point I'd love to see what Granite or Wade can do in LF with regular AB's.

Wade will be here soon. Just cost the Twins another run.

I agree with you on Rosario. Eddie has had some serious plate discipline issues and he has been slow to grow out of them.

On Peacock... The Guy is dealing and he has been dealing all year. I suspect he is going to make a lot of our batters look silly. Jumping on his first pitch probably isn't a bad idea.

Watch him throw... He is in attack mode.

If this is AAA... we need to call up the Rochester staff now.

Yes he's throwing strikes, which should be the scouting report on the Twins.
They've won games by taking walks and letting other teams beat themselves for the most part this year.

Hope the "Chief" is just out of town, as I haven't seen him on here this weekend.

I don't want to worry, but a man of his age, one always has to wonder......   ;)

Chief sent a telegram stating that his wagon train broke down but they are back underway for their Memorial Day roadtrip.

OK

I thought you were saying Peacock was AAA.

His MLB ERA+ is 440 right now.

He's had an amazing 20 innings of 2017.  :)

And he looks spot on when I'm watching him today. Hitting corners... good velocity... good hard breaking pitch.

I'd love to have him on the Twins.

I'm not denying he's not pitching great right now, but his track record says otherwise... maybe he's turned it around

The Twins just have a hard time against pitchers who hit their spots and throw strikes because they rely on working the count and getting relatively cheap runs.. that only works for so long
