Nothing like outdoor baseball. Maybe the Twinks should cut a deal with the Vikes; move the rainouts and cold, windy games indoors. And the Vikes can move their games into the Twinks stadium on those warm, sunny fall days when nobody wants to be inside. Oh, maybe one multi-purpose stadium with a retractable roof would do it!

That fancy shmancy new football stadium has too much glass to play baseball in. You don't want people going there thinking the neighborhood has gone to hell now.

One thing about retractable roofs (rooves)? Stadium owners don't seem to like to retract them.

Rooves. Interesting choice. Roof has always been one of those screwy words with multiple pronunciations. Probably why I've never figured out the proper plural. Rooves works better than Roofeses. Maybe we should go with Roofi. Kind of rolls of the tongue. As a kid I saw a roofer roll off a roof once. He used a couple of words I'd never heard before. My mother claimed she never had either. Or at least she said something to that effect as she was paddling my fanny. Said she never wanted to hear those words under her roof again. Turned out she didn't want to hear them out in the yard either.

Hey, the late great Harmon damaged a seat at the old Met. Maybe Sano could take out a window...

Rain outs bum me out. I was ready for a game.

Rain outs especially bum me out when there is a fantastic game thread open.

Thank you for the kind words. I appreciate it.

So Riverbrian is the only one running around his house in a severely skimpy maid outfit?

My retinas are now severely damaged, simply from *thinking* about such a scenario.

The Gonsalves interview in the minor league update says it perfectly.

"I had a little adrenaline today, but I kept telling myself I've been here and I've been able to compete well at this level. So I was getting myself comfortable."

He put up solid numbers considering he didn't feel like he had all his pitches working. In fact, in his mind, he only had one of his pitches working.

"Only thing working for me today was my fastball. I couldn't get anything over other than that. Curveball was getting spiked. Slider wasn't sliding. That's what the double was hit off of. And I kept pushing my change ups. I want to say I only three off speed pitches for strikes out of 15. But my fastball command was all I had working tonight, just beating up kids on the hands. I think I went outside twice and one was the home run."

Confidence matters. Being able to rely on experience while still working on pitched and not worrying if they leave the park matters. As such, Minor league starts matter and spring training matters. Even in AA, Gonsalves half admitted to reverting back to pumping fastballs. When all of Berrios' success was jyst throwing past guys and getting them to chase every breaking ball, that's what he would revert to lady season and in WBC. That's all he'd ever done or had to do. Hopefully he's learning he can have just as much success locating and out thinking hitters. In this case, it seems the work in aaa paid off. He certainly seems to have better command, better poise, and more confidence.
