Well, here's to hoping we both get to ride together in a space shuttle in the future, travel to distant planets, meet fascinating and intelligent extraterrestrials and die from sickness from the stupid bacteria on their planets.

Your vacation plans are both bold and depressing.

Multiple experiences flying out of Reno are the reason I hate flying. Couple times that I thought that  sucker was going down for sure.

Yeah, it's as if we didn't learn the first time or something.

Yeah, i remember the Challenger about that time. The whole class was watching it.

I haven't been on a space shuttle since. Although i would claim it is for other reasons than fear.

As is my general avoidance of flying. I guess i'm not up to planning months in advance and otherwise am mildly set in my ways.

I'm planning to go on Atlantis down at the Cape in December. I saw this bird fly and it will be quite special touring it.

So... a typical day on Twins Daily?

This is reasonably annoying. Game against hard slumping royals postponed and now again against CHISOX. Both teams will be playing better by the time the make up games come around.

I have to be honest. I am almost 42 and I have never been on an airplane, let alone be a passenger on one. I am deathly afraid of flying.

That's just as well.  Kergeulen International is no picnic to fly into, I hear.  Best to go by outrigger.

Gosh, that sounda fun! Except perhaps the dying part. Count me in!

If i must die, i hope the bacteria is smarter than i...

That makes your avatar the ultimate in irony.

Maybe that is why I am afraid, dropping down into the Cascades is no picnic from a parachute - the elevation was almost insurmountable. Maybe I lied about my age, maybe it is a rouse. Maybe I am a lonesome old man just looking to have some communications with some young whipper snappers and keep my blood flowing. I am 83 right now, my wife has passed on and I blew all my spoils on an underground video game gambling ring in 1987. In think the game was called Frelda or Zappa... something of that nature.

Since the game wasn't on I was able to finish my binge watch of 'Grace and Frankie.' Best. Show. Ever. (after the original Dick Van Dyke Show.) Can't wait for Season 4.

Clearly you never saw The Adventures of Brisco County, Jr.

Clearly you never saw The Adventures of Brisco County, Jr.

Even the special features on dvd for that show were fascintaing. The last gasp of the old west studio lot. Got bunch of stunt guys out of retirement to teach Campbell to ride and twirl a gun. Last few episodes construction messed up the sound as they had started tearing down the lot. Fortunately they were building a fancy aound studio, so they could fix it.

His perpetual search for "the coming thing", and the fellow who played Gomez Adams shows up. Yeah, that was a pretty good show. Mobs what showed up for X-files, some of them stuck to watch Brisco.

I desire to associate myself with this sentiment.

Do you play? And if so (and of course if ya don't mind sharing)
whatcha play?

I sort of play guitar. Picked it up around the time I turned 50 a few years ago. But, I have no musical talent, unlike my wife and kids who combine both talent and practice (well, they used to play). It's becoming somewhat less mechanical this year, but my practicing really fell off last year, and I've kind of levelled off at just above beginner for now....

I love music, and if I could sing I would have already tried to have a band about 100x by now.....

You?

You?

Me!

In Elementary school back in Rochester they started us on cello instead of the ordinary recorder. Entering Junior High, i decided to use the unused violin at home. 2 weeks into orchestra rehearsals the conductor said we needed bass players, so stuck at the bottom of the 2nd fiddle section still work out fingerings, i joined others also learning fingers as first time bass players. Played bass through high school and college and after, albeit primarily pit orchestras after high school.

I did eventually kinda learn the recorder as i got one for xmas.

And a number of years ago, i heard a group sought a tuba player and responded that i didn't play, but was willing to learn. And i am passable now in some circles, and armed with a $100 craigslist sousaphone i started doing local parades with a few groups last summer. I mean to continue that.

As for music... i don't recall what typical high school orchestra fare was, but typical concert band music i guess i am still sinking my chops into, as well as the odd march music.

And i have past involvement with a Gilbert and Sullivan group. Which may have mildly tainted my communication skilz...

Thanks for answering. Being blower of the large brass instrument, i sense a potential comment interest with the one who is called tuba. But that could be a stretch.

Ya know, go ahead and start yer band! Singing will come.
