New Logo

Recommended Posts

Welp, here it is, folks...

Capture

Obviously, anything they came up with was going to be a major improvement on the mangy strung out cartoon dog we've been using for the past umpteen years. But, this was a year in the making?

It's ok, I guess. What do you all think?

It's... okay, I guess. I'd like it better if it didn't look so much like the Coyotes logo:

Their original logo is still the best, IMO. And I'd like the new logo better if they went back to the original color scheme and not that neon ****.

Pro sports teams, here's a tip for your graphics departments: stop using throwaway, culturally-hot-but-soon-to-look-dated, colors in your ****ing logos. Create something iconic, something you'll use for 50 years, not a dozen.

Notice how many times the Lakers and Yankees revise their logos. Pretty much every day, amirite?

FWIW, MN United still has the best logo in town and it's not close. They should never, ever, ever change that logo. It's as close to perfection as a logo can get.

I'd put the Twins "TC" icon second on that list. The Vikings and Wolves have the same problem: they keep chasing the tail of pop culture and creating throwaway logos that become dated in a few years.

The Wild are too new to really comment but their logo is acceptable. The colors are already dated, though, a throwback to the 90s when desaturated primaries and secondaries were all the rage.

If it causes people to buy new gear they will be happy and when the sales wane they will create a new logo.

I think that's a rather backwards way to look at it, though teams may believe that's beneficial.

It's hard to put a price on consistency, the impact a stable brand has on a population.

I seriously doubt the Pittsburgh Penguins worry about their year-over-year jersey sales, yet they've had basically the same logo since dinosaurs roamed the earth. They tried to change it once and everyone basically said "no" so they changed it back.

No doubt. If they had never changed their logo, and I could get a Rubio jersey with the original colors, in the original script, I would buy that. If we were still rocking the original design, I would be decked out.

Someone on Twitter changed the new logo's colors.  Very simply.  They just used the old 1989 colors and the same logo looked incredibly awesome.  I would post it but i don't know how to do pictures anymore on here.  Here is his Twitter handle.

Of course, if there was real stability I'd have that Rubio jersey in Lakers purple and gold.  OK, I probably wouldn't, but would have picked the Minnesota team had there been one, rather than the Celtics, who were closer to home at the time and were winning a few championships during the Cowens/Silas/Jo Jo White era.

I shudder at the thought of liking the Lakers.  I always relished having two reasons to hate them - the rivalry with the Celtics and the fact that they ditched Minneapolis. (At least change the name - how many %^#* lakes are there in LA?)

I agree it is foolish, but what has the current brand stood for?  How popular is the T wolves clothing?  We have 8 seasons of 500 or better out of 28.  One season in the conference finals, no other playoff series wins.  A collective .391 winning percentage.  What else are you going to do?  How about changing the logo?
