Well, yeah. Not my point, though.

His defense is better than almost any other CF in baseball. He's at least that valuable. If you thought he was going to be Mike Trout, maybe that was your mistake, since Mike Trout is on his way to being one of the very greatest baseball players of all time.

How about hitting like Nick Punto, too much to ask?

My God, this outfield may be pretty good defensively, but are utterly worthless offensively. At this point, can we say Rosario even has any offensive upside anymore? Can't come through in a big spot against Shonn Greene, and the rotting undead corpse of K-Rod?

Can we get one of these DHs up from Rochester, already (Park, Vargas, Palka), so we're not seeing the likes of Grossman and Gimenez in the same lineup, hitting in the top 6?

That should have been a W.

Rosario took K-Rod deep in a high leverage spot last season, so I guess it depends on how rotted K-Rod's corpse was in that previous game. :)

Edit: smiley face for levity.

How the inning went:

Polanco struck out swinging.
Sanó doubled to deep center.
Castro singled to deep right, Sanó scored.
Mauer hit for Gimenez.
Mauer singled to left, Castro to second.
Rosario flied out to left.
Kepler hit for Buxton.
Kepler popped out to third.

MN 1 - DET 2

How the inning could have went without that ridiculous lineup:

Polanco struck out swinging.
Sanó doubled to deep center.
Castro singled to deep right, Sanó scored.
D Santana pinch runs for Castro
Mauer singled to left, D Santana to third

Rosario flied out to left. D Santana tags and scores from 3rd
Kepler hit for Buxton.
Kepler popped out to third.

MN 2 - Det 2

I think you are on to something, even if that Mauer pop up would have been a hard read.

I can't really second guess anything Molly did there in the ninth, but you have to admit there were a lot of slow, lumbering earth-movers out there that inning.

Right, Mollie made the correct choices in teh 9th.

this is about not having a bench at all, and 2 of the bench "hitters" being just above the Buxton line...

A right handed DH would have come in handy. And I agree with whoever said we should have pinch run DSan in the ninth. Isn't his speed the one tool that we don't mock and ridicule always?

DanSan was in teh starting lineup. The point he was making that he should never have been in the starting lineup....

Remember boys, you really don't know what you've got until June...unless you start 0-9 and only score 14 runs, but even then we went on a 4 game win streak.  The goal is to go .500 on the road and win 2 of 3 at home.  Do that and you get meaningful games in September.  So, just win one in Detroit and you are on track for the .500 on the road.  We will score runs.  Right now, Sano, Castro, and Polanco are kind of carrying us.  The focus might be on Buxton, but there are plenty of guys who have yet to find their groove.

Just putting this out there. Slegers threw six innings of no-hit ball today for Rochester. Which is great, obviously. However, his strike percentage was lower than Berrios' was the other day. Which suggests strike ratios in AAA may not mean what they do in the majors.

Except that whole correlation between K/9 in the minors and success in the majors, which is real, sure...

I take this as a step in the right direction. Santiago did his job and got the team through the 6th only giving up two runs.

Really cannot ask much more of Santiago.

Forgot to mention: The bullpen did the job also.

I think Van should hold off on activating the Whine Line thread. The whole Buxton thing might lead to him having a nervous breakdown. Sheesh!

I don't know, might make for a very interesting Whine Line.

I think Van would disagree very much. Maybe a month from now if this course continues, which I don't think it will.

8 days in we need to show Buck our solidarity. It's been ugly and he has some inconsistent mechanics. He will get there. I have to imagine Rowson and Buck are working on it.
