Thor: Ragnarok trailer

Recommended Posts

I was pretty meh about the Thor films. Liked the first one okay, the second felt flat.

So I wasn't terribly excited about Ragnarok. Then I saw this trailer.

I actually clapped during the trailer because it's just so much FUN.

I can't wait for this film now.

Also, this *has* to be the hottest film franchise in history. It's ridiculous how many beautiful people exist in Thor's corner of the universe. Now we get Tessa Thompson and Cate Blanchett added to the cast (but minus Natalie Portman).

And, Thor should be more fun, with a less wise Thor, imo.

Yep. I enjoyed the "boyishly naive" Thor from the first film and I hope that Thor comes back in the third film.

He's a god. He's arrogant but kind-hearted. He's at the top of the world. Yeah, he's going to be a little silly at times because he fears almost nothing.

Yeah, busted out laughing at the end of that one. "Yes! I know him. He's a friend from work!" That was a pretty awesomely stupid line.

And did it really take them three films to realize that Led Zepplin's The Immigrant Song was probably the most apt song to use for a Thor film?

He's not all that wise in mythology, just started Gaiman's new Norse Mythology book....

I can't fault them for taking three films to figure it out. I had no idea I so badly needed to see arena rock god Thor until I saw arena rock god Thor in that trailer.

I read the comic books in my youth and am pleased with how Thor has been portrayed in the movies so far. This next movie looks like it will be the best of all.

I will miss Kat Dennings and her ahem assests though.

Yeah, probably can't do much to include her without Natalie Portman's character.

With the main characters they're going to have to recast or kill them off when they want out of the series, but if actresses like Portman and Gwenyth Paltrow who have less essential roles, I wonder if they'll just write them off with a line of dialogue or two if they won't come back to get killed off on screen. I know comics always have love interests, but typically they aren't plot essential.

I wish more characters would die in films where superhumans are trying to kill each other and the world.

The best part of the latest Avengers was them dealing with the aftermath of the attacks. Too often, half a major city is destroyed, and no one even notices the next movie....and it was the one redeeming part of B v S...

I'm good with that. I never liked Portman's character ... or maybe never liked Portman playing that character. So for me ... even though I think Kat Dennings is hysterical ... I'm assuming those are the assets of which are being spoken ... if it means no Portman, I can live with that.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure he meant different assets.

Ummm ... yeah ... your sarcasm meter isn't working. I knew exactly what he meant. ;)

But I'm still okay with her not being there if it means Portman isn't.

Whoa whoa whoa.  Let's try to avoid giving credit to that movie ever.....

you know, I thought WW was great in that movie, frankly. that could have been a great movie w/o the fight scenes at all.

Anger over too much power in one being.

Fear of that being.

Anger over the superpowerful destroying the city.

The attempts by WW to cover her past up.

Wayne and Superman trying to figure out what is going on.

there were pieces that could have been great, in different hands, and no requirements for stupid fight scenes.

I don't care much for the DC movies but I don't really hate them.  I think they are different takes on what the heroes should be like but since I was never a big fan of DC, I don't really care if they are true to the comics or whatever.  Certainly the new Superman is a lot different from the Christopher Reeves Superman but at least DC has kept the character the same in these movies - he's not flipping between stupid, comic relief, brooding, etc like Thor does whenever the writers need him to be that.

And Wonder Woman looks amazing.

I agree, if you strain you can find some stuff. And I am looking forward to Wonder Woman. And at the same time dreading whatever way they Martha that movie. (I've started to use "Martha" as a verb now to describe something done in an inextricably, shockingly stupid way. In honor of BvS)

The Martha scene was laughably bad, the kind of camp that is legendarily awesome under the right circumstances.

Unfortunately, in BvS it just made me mad because the answer to Superman's humanity was standing right next to him, portrayed by an extremely capable actress: Lois Lane.

What a waste of Amy Adams, especially after she was one of the few bright lights of Man of Steel.

mmmm  Gal Gadot... quickly became a favorite actress of mine after B vs. S.... Back on topic, I didn't mind that movie that much.
