Meh about Gaga. I'm pretty jaded by the Prince halftime show. Not sure that can ever be topped for me.

Favorite commercial was easily the Audi commercial. Overall pretty lame.

Yeah, none of the commercials did anything for me.  I was already hyped about GoTG 2 and Stranger Things 2, they were fun, but I'm already sold.

And yeah, I don't understand Gaga's appeal.  Or why I should be more than "meh" about that halftime show.

In all seriousness, Gaga actually did put on a very solid halftime show. She didn't do anything over the top really, and her musicianship was on display, which is one of the things that many don't realize (or respect) about her...

I was pleased with the opening singing. Both America the Beautiful and the anthem were well done.

Along those lines, my favorite commercial was the Coca-Cola commercial that was the first "official" game commercial, singing America the Beautiful in its entirety in dozens of languages, showing a ton of different persons singing in different languages, and notably, many of the countries that are on the travel ban.

Unlike baseball, lately I've had a hard time rooting for any football team. I was cheering against the Falcons because I'm still sore about 1998, but also because I'll be damned if another championship-less team wins a Super Bowl before my Vikings do. Unless that championship-less team is playing the Packers, Bears or Cowboys, then win away.

If you happened to be a Braves writer or fan, you'd be as anti-Falcons as I have been lately due to their fanbase. Absolutely insufferable lately...

Uh, wth were the Atlanta coaches doing passing the ball late in the game? run on 2nd down. run on 3rd down. Kick FG, go up by 11.....I blame them for being stupid.

Agreed... What was Shanahan thinking by abandoning the run? That Julio Jones amazing sideline catch should have been the final nail in the coffin... Run 3 times, burn a minute or so off the clock, kick a FG to go up 11 with 3-ish minutes left.

How 'bout that half time show? And what was everyone's favorite commercial?

I enjoyed Gaga's halftime show... It was pretty smooth transitioning from one song to the next, and she was able to get the crowd choreographed with her dancing on stage which was cool to see. Apparently they had drones above them doing a light show, but we couldn't see it on the broadcast.

The commercials were very meh this year. None stand out in my mind... We were doing prop bets at the party I attended such as first animal featured on a commercial, first car brand commercial, first pizza commercial, first fast food commercial, etc. I was getting crushed....

I was hoping for that opportunity, but really only because I wanted to see Bryant miss the kick leaving the Falcons in the exact same spot to lose as the Vikings did in the 1999 NFC Championship game.

Football may be the only thing that brings out the schadenfreude in me.

It does in all of us.... I'm over the 1999 championship game.... The Falcons have been just as mediocre as the Vikings since that time.

I'm very tired of the Cheatriots story. And this win will make their fan base as insufferable as ever.

I think their line was absolutely gassed - both sides of the ball. When they did try to run, they just couldn't get any push. I think what happened is that the Falcons guys who hadn't been there before got into the bright lights of the situation and went "balls out" right away, dominating the line on both sides initially, but they wore down about mid-3rd quarter. Meanwhile, the Pats' lines were just paced well throughout the game and looked mauling at the end due to their relative "freshness" in comparison to the guys across the ball.

I agree, but they didn't need more yards, they just needed to run time (or burn NE timouts) and kick a FG.......

Nothing against NE, truly one of the great QBs and coaches of all time.

Right, they could have lost 3 yards on both run plays, still kicked a field goal, and be celebrating today.

That and the 3rd and long, play action deep play call was terrible.  On your own side of the field, with 7 minutes and up by 16....why the hell take that chance?  You had to give it to them to lose it, just to give it to them.

And I agree about game quality.  The last 7 minutes were pretty awesome, but the previous 53 sucked.

Yeah, the biggest thing for the Patriots was how much they had the ball. The first half Atlanta couldn't have done much about it because the Falcons scored using a pick six and a handful of big offensive plays, it's not like you're going to regret those points simply because you didn't hold the ball longer.

But that last drive was Atlanta's chance to manage the clock to their advantage. And their O-line should not have been gassed. They should have been stiff and stale if anything, they hardly were ever on the field.

Another mind.boggling. thing about Atlanta's offense in the 4th quarter: They were snapping the ball with 15-20 seconds left on the play clock. Overall they were playing like THEY were trailing in the 4th quarter, not the other way around.

did it on the punts also. It was just odd, frankly.

I hadn't even noticed that, good catch.

There are times to be vanilla and conservative and this team kept going for a jugular it already had firmly in it's teeth.

Concur. When you lost your tackle in the fourth quarter and brought in Compton as backup, I texted a friend and said "watch #76 - he is a kid who grew up in the Twin Cities (Rosemout) and played at South Dakota." It was Compton who looked fresh and made his blocks, while it was the other guys who got Ryan in trouble. Though to New England's credit they were harassing Ryan on and off all night.

I will say that I did enjoy hearing the USD thing, though they screwed up and called them SDSU on radio, I guess.
