Minnesota Wild Thread

Garbage? He's had one game below league average SV% in the series.

Holy hyperbole.

Team started their tailspin when they made the big trade.  And forgot how to take advantage of power plays.

The hottest team going into the playoffs was the Blues.  Unfortunate timing.

Trade deadline rentals are bad mojo most of the time. One of the few I can ever remember hitting the jackpot was the '94 Rangers, and even then it was bottom 6 depth they added, not top 6 scoring.

Lol the ducks finally fire the loser Boudreau and what happens:

They finally win a game 7! Funny how that works.

Boudreau, nice guy, but a terrible coach for a team with actual Stanley cup aspirations.

Of course though, it's Minnesota, the rubes will never expect anything more than a first or 2nd round exit anyways.

Speaking of rubes.

Let's also be clear here....the Ducks were lucky there even was a Game 7. If Edmonton wasn't pre-pubescent for their average age that series might have been a sweep the other way.

Other than game 6 I thought the Ducks were the better team in every game.

Is this team still cooked?

They’ve certainly stepped up. And I would never have guessed that Staal would become a 40-goal scorer again. So, I heartily accept your callback.

...but I guess it depends on your measure of success. I still can’t see them winning more than a playoff series right now. This has been a playoff team for a long time now, so I wouldn’t consider anything less than a Cup to be a true success.

it was meant to be a playful jab.  Hope you took it that way.

They were 7-7-2 after 16 games.  Since then, they are 35-17-7.  They have been awesome since their slow start.

If anyone predicted Staal would be a 40 goal scorer again it's a lie.

They're pretty much a middle of the pack playoff team. If they get matched up against Nashville or Winnipeg, I think it'll be a quick exit. If it's against Vegas, there's a chance!

The recipe doesn't change in the NHL. Hot goaltending and grinding out close games. Dubnyk hasn't shown yet that he's a Stanley Cup caliber goalie.

Most goalies don't show it.....until they do.

This ream can roll 4 lines with anyone right now.  Hopefully Spurge is back soon.

I'd love to see Dubnyk find a hot streak. He still gives up too many softies for my liking.

The depth is good. Someone else besides Staal and Zucker need to step up to consistently score goals. Maybe that guy is Nino.

They're going to have a tough matchup against the Jets and it's going to be even more difficult with Suter out. Hopefully Spurgeon will be healthy enough to come back and play a strong series. Playoffs are always fun to watch and you never know what's going to happen. The best thing the Wild have going for them is their playoff experience compared to the Jets. It's something like 900 plus games played for the Wild compared to 250 for the Jets. The Jets goalie doesn't have any playoff experience so hopefully the Wild can score a few early goals and rattle him a bit.

they started the season slow but recovered fairly early in the season and have been really good the rest of the way.  I think they can go deep this year.

After 16 games, they were 7-7-2, then they went 37-19-9

Looking forward to what should be the start of an intense border battle rivalry, for years to come.

Experience certainly favours the Wild, and a very good 100 point season is nothing to sneeze at.

Depth favours the Jets, especially with the Wild losing Suter. That's a lot of minutes and situations to off load onto anyone else.

If Dubnyk gets hot or if Hellebyuck can't translate his regular season to the playoffs, it's anyone's series.

Can't wait.

Not sure I'm buying this playoff experience argument that I keep hearing.

It's the same game, same rules (OT aside), same rink.

These guys are all pros, they're playing for their livelihood, so there is always pressure.

How'd the playoff experience advantage work out for the Patriots in the Super Bowl?
