Series of Articles about the worst Twins' players is too negative

Recommended Posts

I would like to ask the moderators pull the plug on the series of articles about the worst Twins ever. It is very negative. This series is different from other articles which I have enjoyed on the Twins Daily site. I feel it demeans some players that we all used to cheer for. Win or lose, home run or strike out, we still pull for the Twins. This is the type of article I used to see on mlb.com. All the complaining and whining were so negative that I quit reading the articles on mlb.com. That is one reason TD is such a breath of fresh air. I have a friend who played for the Twins in 1987. He has a World Championship ring. What if he were selected for this list. How do you think Mark Davidson and his wife and two kids would feel? I have another friend who had a cup of coffee (46 innings) with the Orioles. He never made any headlines, he only won one game in the majors, but he went on to be one of the most knowledgeable  persons in the whole world on pitching and became pitching coach for the World Champion Phillies, Braves, Giants, Brewers, Orioles and Cubs. How would Herm Starrette feel if he were written up as one of the worst players in Baltimore's history? Maybe I'm the only one who feels this way, but these Twins players on this "worst list" are like my friends. I feel the need to defend my friends.

Thank you for considering my concern. I sincerely appreciate your efforts to look into this matter. TD is an amazing site and I enjoy it "daily". I can assure you I will abide by your decision and I won't complain if you guys disagree with my request. The owners have the right to publish the content and I respect this.

As one of the people often accused of being negative, I too find the articles bizarre. Haven't even opened one thread....

That's a good point, I'm hoping that ownership and mods here change their stance on what posters can post and what "bloggers" can post so that they can both be equal when it comes to negative vs positive.

Actually I take it back, that whole series is bizarre and doesn't seem to serve much of a purpose, worst of all cody seems to be really reaching to put more articles together, Walbeck as an all time worst Twin? Give me a break, the guy was more or less a backup catcher type, does every player who was a backup deserve to be on this list?

If it was focused on FA signings that busted or hyped up players (Nishi, bautista, nolasco) I get the merit of the series, but this? No way.

It's not my cup of tea. I'm more interested in the human element.

Whoever the worst players are... they still accomplished more than most and getting far enough to be considered the worst is an amazing against the odds professional achievement.

So to all of the worst players out there... I tip my hat to you. You can look back at what you did with pride.
