Hypertheticals -- Season 2

This was a fun thread during the dead season prior to spring training... Much like last year, I, or someone else who has a good suggestion, will propose a Hyperthetical question of the day. During the week, we'll try to have a new question every day.

Here's the question for today:

Soundtrack to your life:

One of the perks playing professional baseball, wrestling, etc. is having your own walk-up song before you step in the batter's box or the ring! Well, my friend, you also get the luxury of walk-up music of your own! You can choose a song for each emotion you feel... Here's the catch: You will only be able to hear these songs for the rest of your life. Any new song on the radio reverts back to your life soundtrack.

What songs are on your life soundtrack?

When I am happy, I will play "Happy" by Pharrell. Then, because that is the most idiotic song in music history, I will become enraged, so I will play "Where Eagles Dare" by the Misfits.

'Happy' is such an infectiously happy song. So is 'Walking On Sunshine.'

Good stuff so far, guys...

My song for feeling happy: TV On the Radio - "Happy Idiot"

Feeling Sad: Simon and Garfunkel - "The Sound of Silence" which can also help using comedy during sad situations to make me feel happy again!

Frustration/Anger: Radiohead - "Creep"

When I want to drive fast in the car: Cake - "The Distance"

Inspiration: Ten Years After - "I'd Love to Change the World"

Reminiscing on old times: Eddie Money - "I Wanna Go Back"

I admit, Sound of Silence is the only one there I'm familiar with. Time for some horizon expansion.

Here's today's question:

Worldwide Perfection:

Scientists build a massive space station that allows mankind to control the worldwide weather. As a result, there are no more weather emergencies. There are no more droughts or floods or tornadoes, and global warming has been eliminated. However, there is an immediate demand for "perfect" days. Because the weather can be controlled, many people want the weather to be nicer and more predictable.

A large segment of the populace wants there to be two specified dates -- April 22 and October 22 -- where every place on Earth would simultaneously experience ideal weather conditions for 24 hours. These two days would become worldwide holidays (ideal for weddings, reunions, outdoor sporting events, and any tourism or traveling that demands meteorological perfection). Every community on Earth would have perfect weather on these two designated days.

However, the environmental community claims that this might be risky. There is no precedent for "worldwide perfection," and environmental leaders fear that this could create problems we cannot foresee. "It can't be nice everywhere," says universal weather czar Al Gore. "At any given moment, at least one-third of the planet needs to be dealing with semi-crappy weather." However, no one can specifically prove why this alleged perfection would be dangerous (because it's never happened before).

Where would you stand on this issue? Would you want the perfect (yet potentially harmful) weather days?

back to music, Groove is in the Heart, for pretty much all moods. It can keep you happy, or make you smile.

As for weather, whatever Al "I still fly private jets" Gore says is good with me...... :)

I think if we can control the weather, we go for 2 perfect days 1 time, then, when teh storms pay us back, we don't do it again......

This question also makes me think what is the perfect temp for the world? It may cause World War 3 just to be the people who controls the World's thermostat those days...

Wait, is the weather the same everywhere, or perfect for there? because, ya, I vote no if there is much humidity.....

Good question. I assumed it would be the same temp throughout the world, but that wouldn't make sense for Antarctica to be 75 and sunny. So we'll assume it's the ideal temp for whatever climate you live in.

I think my friends from Pune will have a different idea of perfect from my friends in Minneapolis, or my friends from Boston or San Francisco, for that matter.
