Sounds like only one year with any guaranteed money. If true, I can roll with that.

I think that's what makes this a good move. This means they don't have to reach in the draft for a running back. He might not be the best running back in the league but he's put up solid numbers.  He missed a few games last season and had only 195 rushing attempts last season, which is pretty low compared to other top running backs.

With the moves the Vikings have made the last 3 days I'd say they should still draft:

2OL

1DT

1RB

1CB

1LB

1P

1TE

Murray is the exact kind of RB they should be going after.

Low risk, "medium" reward. Can actually CATCH a ball and PASS block, something AP never cared to learn, and he costs about 18 mil less a year as well.

I'm not arguing Peterson > Murray, but I might argue Rookie RB > Murray.

Jalen Richard took over a lot of the third down playing time as the season went on.....so on what are we basing our conclusions about Murray's skills in the passing game?

77 catches last two years, averaged 8 YPC last year.

I mean nobody is going to mistake him for Levon Bell, but that is leaps and bounds better than what Asiata and Peterson put up.

He's only on a one year deal and McKinnon isn't an every down back. They will more than likely draft a RB late and bring in another rookie or two to compete for carries as well, if they catch fire? Than it's easy enough to walk away from McKinnon or Murray.

Murray signing keeps them from:

-Overspending on a "meh" FA Rb

-Going into the draft knowing they need to try to grab a RB in the first 3 rounds.

At the end of the day its 3 million for one year if it doesn't work out, I don't see the downside at all to be honest. Also he just turned 27, he may have another solid year or two in him.

I will agree, one year at that price is a reasonable enough gamble.  I'm comfortable with that.  But this guy has plenty of red flags himself.

As long as we also draft the back of 2018 in this year's draft, I'm good with it.  I just wouldn't expect much from Murray.

Quigley may not be very good at punting, yet he's statistically is better than the guy we had last year. Locke got 3.45m over two years from the Colts. So, we have Quigley with better career stats in both gross and net punting yards instead of a punter being paid $1.75 million.. Hmmm, net win??

He's gotten worse each year, was cut last year, and no one picked him up....I don't think he's the answer.

This line was in Sid's jottings this morning....

"Monday that word around the league is that Peterson is willing to play for $5 million less than his $18 million contract if the situation is right."

He's still seeking $13 MM?!! No wonder why he's still unsigned. Zero self-awareness from this guy.

Apparently Sid misquoted a Peter King snippet saying that he would be willing to take 5 million OR less, not 5 million less.

Ah, that makes more sense than Sid's column. Asking for $13 MM is insane. Even $5 MM is pushing it considering where he is in his career.

Yeah, I think 5 million would still make him one of the top 10 or 12 highest paid RB's.

Maybe someone takes a chance at that price because of his name and what he used to be, but he's far from a top 12 running back at this point.

Draft in two days. I usually forward to this like few other days, but not having a first, not living in MN, and not knowing anyone here to watch it with has dampened that. That and the site I go to for Vikes stuff is getting stiflingly boring.....

I am predicting DL in round 2, or a trade up for DL / OL.

I'm with you... Completely checked out of this year's draft since the Vikes don't have a 1st round pick, and more than likely I won't know anyone they'll draft in the later rounds.

They still need multiple OL.... DT is now a priority since Floyd's career is in jeopardy. And I'd like to find a RB in the mid-late rounds that can develop into a feature back by 2018.

I forsee Kamara being a possible late first rounder, which is why I take him with the second round pick.

I'm projecting a bit, if I'm wrong and he's a later pick so be it, but I don't think that's going to happen once the league gets their hands on him at the combine.

Your boy Kamara is available in the 2nd round... Wouldn't mind the Vikes picking him up!

Looks like they are (or have) signed Michael Floyd. Can we now admit the CoC is bunk?

Ugh... I can already imagine the angle some reporters are going to take.... "Floyd returns home, turning a new leaf now that he's reunited with close friends and family.... Lost his way without being close to home"

Yeah, Floyd does nothing for me.

Is anyone else irritated how last year when our QB has a fluke injury our best option is Michael Vick and this year Romo, Cutler, Fitzpatrick, and Kapernick (among others) are all available?

Screw you Football Gods!

Anyone have interest in WR Eric Decker? He was released this morning because he didn't fit the Jets' plans of losing as many games as possible this season.

If he were signed, IMO he'd be the best WR on roster. He was extremely durable and consistent from 2012-2015.

To me it doesn't hurt to sign him to a incentive laden contract.  He has the chance to be a great asset to the team if he can stay healthy.

Agreed. I'm not sure what it would take to sign him, but there is room on the roster for a #1/#2 type WR.

The investment in Floyd is minimal, and it's certainly not guaranteed he'll make the roster out of training camp. I'm also already convinced Treadwell is a bust.

Decker - Diggs - Thielen is a pretty good WR group.
