Recommended Posts

In the event your survey is still open....

1) Who do you expect the Dodgers to consider untouchable?

none

2) How do you rank the following pitching prospects (feel free to include other names): Yadier Alvarez, Walker Buehler, Jose De Leon, Jordan Sheffield, Brock Stewart, Ross Stripling?

Alvarez - De Leon - Stewart - Buehler - Stripling - Sheffield

3) How do you rank the following hitting prospects (feel free to include other names): Cody Bellinger, Willie Calhoun, Yusniel Diaz, Gavin Lux, Alex Verdugo?

Bellinger - Verdugo - Calhoun - Lux - Diaz

4) Which of these role players (if any) would you be okay with as a 3rd or 4th piece (add other names if you want): Austin Barnes, Chris Taylor, Trace Thompson, Andrew Toles, Scott Van Slyke?

don't know

5) Who are some interesting sleepers in the Dodgers system that you like?

Mitchell White, Chase DeJong

6) Who are on your 'I don't want this player in a trade no matter what' list?

Puig

7) What is your minimum acceptable trade?

not sure. De Leon plus a meaningless additional piece is not acceptable.

8) What is your dream trade (that does not include anyone you considered untouchable)?

Alvarez + De Leon + White/DeJong, for Dozier + other

9) Would you consider it a failure if Dozier is in a Twins uniform on Opening Day?

no

10) What do expect Dozier's WAR to be in 2017 & 2018?

4.5, 4.0

11) If Dozier is traded to the Dodgers, what is your over/under for his home runs in 2017?

28

Additional comments: This is all guessing, of course. Higher on Alvarez now than I was a week ago. It was fun to read up on the Dodgers system and they look absolutely stacked. I also believe Dozier is the real thing. Let them pay!

I'm not sure why people have 3 untouchables. I mean we are giving them dozier and letting them keep their top prospect. They should let us pick the first two, any two in their system and then high upside guys

Probably the lack of interest in Dozier after the dodgers. and then the way certain guys like Bellinger fit into the organizations short-long term plans.

Thanks to everyone who responded to my questions about the Dozier-to-Dodgers trade. Here are the results...

1) Who do you expect the Dodgers to consider untouchable?
Urias was unanimous.
56% considered Bellinger untouchable.
Just one or two people thought that Alvarez or Buehler were untouchable.

2) How do you rank the following pitching prospects (feel free to include other names): Yadier Alvarez, Walker Buehler, Jose De Leon, Jordan Sheffield, Brock Stewart, Ross Stripling?
Alvarez and De Leon ended up in virtual tie for the top spot. Buehler was the clear #3, with Stewart, Sheffield and Stripling following in that order.

3) How do you rank the following hitting prospects (feel free to include other names): Cody Bellinger, Willie Calhoun, Yusniel Diaz, Gavin Lux, Alex Verdugo?
Not much of surprise, as Bellinger was the unanimous #1. Verdugo was the clear #2 pick, followed by Calhoun and Lux in a tie for #3, with Diaz the last spot.

4) Which of these role players (if any) would you be okay with as a 3rd or 4th piece (add other names if you want): Austin Barnes, Chris Taylor, Trace Thompson, Andrew Toles, Scott Van Slyke?
A lot of people responded with "it depends...", which makes sense - the quality of the first two pieces of the trade changes who is acceptable as a third or fourth piece. For those that did pick and/or rank these players, here is the order:
1) Toles
2) Barnes
3) Thompson
4) Puig
5) Taylor

5) Who are some interesting sleepers in the Dodgers system that you like?
A lot of names (10!) were mentioned in this section. However, by far the most popular were:
1) Mitchell White
2t) Chase De Jong
2t) Keibert Ruiz

6) Who are on your 'I don't want this player in a trade no matter what' list?
Not many names were added here. Four people mentioned Calhoun. Puig got two votes, and Van Slyke, Barnes and Thompson all got a single vote.

7) What is your minimum acceptable trade?
Rather than just list everyone's response here, I will attempt to generalize toward frameworks. I apologize in advance if I misinterpreted your commented, but I'm trying my best.
- Nearly everyone who responded indicated a deal centered around the De Leon/Alvarez combo that Dave has been reporting would be acceptable based on their "minimum".
- Similarly, a strong majority indicated that they would accept a trade containing two of the big three pitching prospects (De Leon, Alvarez, Buehler).
- Only 4 of 15 people indicated that they would be okay with a trade centering around De Leon and Stewart.
- 11 of the responses indicated at least 3 players back.
- No one suggested a one-for-one deal.

8) What is your dream trade (that does not include anyone you considered untouchable)?
As with the above question, I'm generalizing here.
- Almost everyone's dream trade starts with De Leon and Alvarez, and then included one of Bellinger, Buehler or, for some, Stewart.

- Roughly half are also hoping for a 4th legitimate prospect as well.

9) Would you consider it a failure if Dozier is in a Twins uniform on Opening Day?
Fairly even split. Seven people said Yes; five people said No. The remainder commented something along the lines of "not knowing what they actual offers were, it is hard to say one way or the other..."

10) What do expect Dozier's WAR to be in 2017 & 2018?
The majority predicted Dozier to perform in the 4-5 WAR range for both 2017 and 2018. However, there were several optimists in the group that predicted that Dozier would either meet or exceed his 2016 performance. This pushed the overall average up to 5.2 WAR for 2017 and 4.9 WAR for 2018.

11) If Dozier is traded to the Dodgers, what is your over/under for his home runs in 2017?
The vast majority (12 of 14) predicted that Dozier would hit 30 or less HRs in 2017. The most optimistic person predicted 35. The average was 28.5.

Wonder what the answers would look like if it was only Dodgers fans?

For example, I would guess many more would consider Bellinger, Alvarez and Buehler untouchable. The dream trade might De Leon and scraps, and the minimum acceptable might include Stewart?

I think the Dozier WAR would be less, like 4.5/4, and the HRs might be less too, like 25. I have to assume that Twins fans overestimate Dozier's projections. Just guesses, though.
