Article: Winter Meetings Are Over. Now What?

Don't quite understand the Santiago hate here.

His numbers are better than Gibson's over the last 3 years. He had a bad August for the Twins followed by a good September.

Not a hate.  He is blocking Berrios, Mejia, and any other pitcher the Twins might acquire in a Dozier trade.

As is the 2017 Twins starting rotation is set:

Santana

Hughes

Santiago

Gibson

May

Does not look like that of a rebuilding team to me.

No hate at all.  Just a numbers game.

I think the pain in selling Santiago and Santana (well Santana mainly) is the impact on wins & losses for the team.  Dealing Santana could bring back valuable prospects but it will undoubtedly make the situation worse in the short term.  That said, the time to sell Santana before he's a free agent or declines is now or next season before the deadline, IMO.

I also hope they aren't still making decisions first and foremost based on attendance/fan support.

My source, which happens to be me, says I have no idea.  This is a team that only a few of us loyal (delusional) fans trying to find some nuggets to get excited about and the new leadership does not have anything to offer us, other than the fact that they are new.   I wanted some buzz.  Hiring old, retired Twins was not the move that gave me a sense of the future.  It is a long time since that 1991 WS.

Dozier's name is out there, but the signings and the trades have left us with nothing.  No other Twin seems to be worth a mention in the national media.  In fact, the Twins are not mentioned in the national media.

Last year the big names in the minors were all in the majors.  What is left?  We have some talented pitchers and we still have Neil Allen who lead us to???

Sliding to the solstice, the days will be longer - thankfully - but will there be hope rising with the sun?  Not yet.

I wouldn't be counting on Hughes at this point.............

Don't restrict urself or oneself to JUST the Dodgers in a prospective Dozier Deal

The Cardinals would be a perfect match , and have reason to strongly want Brian D. as well.

Luke Weaver + Sandy Alcantara would be a nice start throw in a C+ prospect and thats basically a wrap.

They're almost a better match for the Twins than the Dodgers are for example.

St. Louis has a surplus of infielders at this time.  Do not see them buying Dozier for prospects.  That also is not the St. Louis way.  It is more of moving a player a year too early than a year too late.

Pittsburg with 2 upper level starters close to the majors might have more of a reason to make a deal, division is very difficult and their window will be closing in the next 2-3 years.

The Twins need to keep some veterans around. Trading all the vets is not the best way to go unless they all have attitude problems. I don't think that is the case here. I still like the Polanco for DeLeon swap idea as it saves dodgers money with league minimum player and we get a starting pitcher. When Dozier hits free agency is the same time as Mauer so his 23 million will come off the books leaving us plenty of money to resign Dozier.....

speaking for myself, I don't want Dozier to re-sign so for our team I don't think money is the issue. It's Dozier's age and the fact that we have almost no pitching.

I think other fans who want Dozier traded feel the same, but I can't say for sure.

I don't think I care for that package nearly as much as any rumored Dodger package. I'm not big on Weaver, he looks like a back of the rotation guy at best. He's a very slight right hander with a 91-92 MPH fastball and doesn't have a breaking pitch. He belongs in the NL.
