Rival exec monitoring Dozier derby says he's still hearing #Dodgers in connection with #mntwins 2B. Slow-moving derby. FalVine being patient

They better make something happen soon.  Colorado and other teams are looking for pitchers and are willing to give up position players to get them.  All I can say is move with a purpose don't delay too long or take too long.

So Dave, we remember your Mauer extension news. What were the other Twins tidbits that comprise your "3 out of 4" record?

This thread isn't about me but I will answer: I did nail the Stewart trade and the Gomez for Hardy trade.

Yup, fact checking news sources takes actual effort.

Yeah you have made your point abundantly clear. You think I'm full of it, which is fine, but you really don't need to mention in 4+ times now in various threads. I guess you are rooting for me to fail?

As our emperor in chief would say:

Sad!

Well, you kind of are full of it, even if you are right about this. ;) And I think I've known you long enough to know there is some truth in that.

If they get De Leon and Alvarez or Bellinger, I'm saying successful trade given what we know today. As some know, I posted I'd love all three of those, and I'd put Stewart and Rosario in the deal to get it done.....of course, I know actually nothing about all three players other than what one can read, so my opinion is just one of a random fan talking on a sports' chat site....

I like how a Twins beat reporter reporting gossip from his source (whom we don't know) qualifies as fact while a poster who also claims an inside source (whom we don't know) must be fake.

I visit MLBTraderumors too, but most of that is gossip and "fake" too.  That's not why I visit it or am curious about the whispers.  I'm waiting to see how things play out, this thread is more about ramping up our excitement that this might actually happen than getting lost in the details.

As long as we're speculating that's the fun.  I don't think anyone is going out and getting their Deleon jerseys until the bad boy is official.  And it if it falls through, what have we lost?  A thread where we were all excited about our favorite team?

Oh the humanity....

How am I full of it on this? I have ran by how I have a few sources with Brock in the past.

Nice to know you are Craig are rooting for my failure on this though.

Sad!

Well said Lev!

Not to mention beat writers often have to carry the water for their respective teams (leaking info on behalf of an org etc) for access later on.

Something a normal fan with some buddies in organizations doesn't have to worry about.

Why the curmudgeonly attitudes from some here? Right or wrong, it's fun to speculate, and spurs good conversation here. R-E-L-A-X.

Because dammit!  We can't have nice things!  We can't have an entire thread being interested, engaged Twins fans without someone wanting to be a *@$%@$ about it.

I really do hope the news breaks today.  I really want to feel re-engaged with this team and the new leadership.  This is easily the best way to do it.

Ha! I'm not rooting for you to fail. I hope you're right and keeping my fingers crossed. But you are, at times, a 'larger than life' personality, so I'd say 'full of it' does qualify, even if you are right.

Its just jealousy.  We all would love to have inside sources.

You've been very open about how you got this information and you've also been honest about how you aren't always right.  Kind of dumb for people to blast you about it.

Look at it this way:  If he's wrong, we have the rest of our lifetimes to hang it over his head.  Over and over and over again.

Win-win in my book.

Thanks! It's a harsh crowd sometimes!

I mean Espn reported the other night that Sale to the Nationals was all but a done deal, then the Red Sox swooped in and changed it up. I'm sure according to some of the negative nancies here that means ESPN is "full of it" or such.

Meh, I won't mind. And it won't discourage me from posting these types of things in the future when I am told something (which happens to be, what every 4-5 years anyways?)

While I don't doubt the sincerity of Dave or his source, I'm not sure this report is good (assuming it is accurate).

The Dodgers have made an offer, that much seems to be known from other sources too.  But if the offer contained two of De Leon, Alvarez, and Bellinger (or whatever other top Dodgers prospects I may be missing!), I don't think anybody would be waiting or drawing it out -- the Twins would pretty much engage the Dodgers and hammer out the details immediately at that point.

This suggests to me that the Dodgers offer is pretty light -- basicially De Leon and a couple minor pieces -- and Dave's source seems to think the Twins will break down and accept an offer that most of us would be disappointed with.  (Or the source is over-confident that the Twins can get an upgraded counter-offer readily accepted.)

While I seriously don't mind "people holding it over me" I would suggest that you guys do it in a somewhat friendly matter, not for my sake, but for other posters who may here something in the future and may be turned away from speaking about it in fear of being "blasted" if they are wrong.

I recall a lot of people being jerks to that writer here who mentioned the Ervin Santana trade, which seemed like a very unfair thing to do to him.

Like I said though, feel free to flame away on me though if it doesn't happen today.

That's not the case at all IMO.

As mentioned previously:
Urias not in the trade, Lux not in the trade, Puig not in the trade, if people were expecting any of those three they will be disappointed I guess?

When it comes to fruition I will be pleased with the return on Dozier (honestly I think De Leon alone is a haul) but add in Alavrez or the masher and it's even nicer! (Which is what the trade will end up being)

Ok jumping in late here, but if we get De Leon and Alvarez, I'm calling this a steal. Fangraphs says the following about Alvarez:

The ease with which Yadier Alvarez delivers 100 mph fastballs is as unsettling as it is beautiful. Triple-digit fastballs are becoming more common but they usually involve significant visible effort. Alvarez throws 95-plus and looks like he’s settling down to take a nap. He’ll touch 101 and generally sits 96-99 and 94-97 later in starts.

...

But this combination of body, delivery, arm strength and impact breaking ball is the stuff young aces are made of and the ceiling here is immense. I think this is one of the highest upside arms in the minor leagues.

It might also suggest that Dozier is a hot commodity and the team is trying to leverage league-wide interest into getting even more.

It's not like the trades the last few days have been light on prospects.

Hundreds (hundreds?) of Twins fans flock to Twindaily to read about DaveW's scoop on the Dozier trade:

1095994.gif?b64lines=

That equates to about $50-$100 in revenue for the site, at the very least all owners of this site have enough for a free lunch because of this thread!
